Route 120. The place of choice for up-and-coming trainers in Fortree City who wanted to hone their skills against the various wildlife, especially with the tall grass dense with Pokemon, and various terrains to explore as well. On the recommendation from some of the locals of Fortree, the group had wound up training there, mostly amongst themselves, but also with anyone passing by who was willing to. As well as any wild Pokemon that were looking to fight, or harassing any of the people walking past just minding their own business. Although, it was more of the former rather than the latter. The Wild Pokemon were quite tame by all accounts, which just must have been from the local's attachment to Pokemon and all the nature that surround it. After dealing with one particularly naughty Linoone, stealing some berries from some people walking by, Ellie and Lucas got back to work.
"Thundershock!", Lucas cried as Magnemite suddenly surged with electrical energy, producing a stream of buzzing electricity, soaring straight into the sky at a fast rate, then slowly dissipating into thin air. Then, it did it again. And, again. And, again. It seemed pointless, and Magnemite was exhausting itself. But, everytime, Magnemite's Thundershock was getting even more powerful, as well as reaching further than it was before. The reach was something that Lucas was particularly worried about, as he wanted to make sure that he always had an answer to Winona's flying, no matter what Pokemon he was fighting with. It mattered especially for Magnemite, with its type advantage meaning it could do some real damage to Winona's flying types.
Ellie was just as focused on making sure her gym battle went smoothly as well, practising with her own Electrike on their training.
"Quick Attack!", she cried, as Electrike suddenly pounced to the floor and began running around aimlessly, yet extremely quickly. Electrike was on the other side of the spectrum to Magnemite. Electrike didn't have any special attacks to its name, which was usually a disadvantage. But, with how fast Electrike was, Ellie made something that was just as deadly as a long-range attack.
"Now, jump off of the rock!", she cried as Electrike built up its momentum, jumping onto the rock. Then, pushing off on all fours, Electrike leapt high into the air, blotting out the sun with its shadow. Ellie smiled, then yelled,
"Thunder Fang!"
Electrike's fangs sparked up as it gnawed and bit through the air, before losing momentum, dropping to the ground with a smooth roll. It popped out of its roll, excitedly wagging its tail and looking at Ellie with a shine in its eyes. It ran over to Ellie, jumping into her arms happily. She smiled, petting it gently on the head and saying,
"That was great stuff, you'll be taking down Winona's Pokemon in no time!"
Electrike excitedly barked, then was let out of Ellie's arms, running among the plains once again, throwing itself about with incredible speed and power. It was nice to see its progress, even if it had always been a little speedster. It was gaining more control over running, as well as stronger everytime that it attacked. It would just have to be a matter of time before it made its grand debut in a gym battle. She looked over to Lucas, watching Magnemite reach to the sky with its bolts of electricity. She looked to Electrike, excitedly frolicking amongst the plains, sparking up with electric energy. Then, she turned to Lucas, walking over and asking,
"Would you mind a battle between our Pokemon? To test out the power of their thunder?"
"Of course!", Lucas excitedly exclaimed as Magnemite let out one last Thundershock, before slowly drifting to the ground, fatigue inflicted in its eyes. It was exhausted from its training, and it showed quite clearly on its face. Lucas nervously chuckled, scooping up Magnemite in his arms and responding, "Well, maybe later when Magnemite's managed to recover from its fatigue."
