The next morning, I helped Luka make some breakfast, and we were working in silence for a bit. Yesterday, I managed to convince Sirius to spread the snapdragons out, plant a little bit in each corner of the campus. That way if there was an attack, all of them can work together to keep the damage to a minimum instead of focusing it in one area.

I spent the late night going around, making sure that the spells were really complete before heading to bed. Sirius had planted the seeds before bed, but I could faintly sense the magic floating around.

And now, me and Luka were working together to make some food!

"Is something wrong," I asked, glancing at Luka out of the corner of my eye. He looked to be very focused and intense. And when I talked, he jumped up slightly.

"Oh, yeah," he said, turning back to his cooking.

"If you want to talk about it, I'm right here, you know," I hummed as I carefully brought some freshly cut vegetables to Luka's area.

Luka didn't say anything at first, but after a long sigh, he started talking. "I just... wish I had an older brother like Sirius," he said. "Sirius is so nice and kind and so cool!"

"That's a nice idea," Sirius said, coming into the kitchen. "I've always wanted a little brother."

"Sirius," Luka shouted when he realized that the said guy in question came walking right in. "How much did you hear?"

Aw, look at blushing Luka! So cute!!

"Just the brother part," Sirius said, leaning against the doorframe.

Luka was right, he really was super cool.

"Would you mind if I borrow you for a moment, little lady," Sirius asked as he came towards me. Is it just me, or are his eyes more intense than usual?

"Nope! What's up?" I handed Luka the vegetables as I and turned my full attention to Sirius.

"I have an extremely important task for you to do," he said, looking down at me, his face grim. He looked as if he was preparing to send me off to war.

"It can't be that bad," I said, patting his head, wanting to cheer Sirius up. "What do you need me to do?"

Luka came in between the two of us. "Wait, Emberlynn! You can't be serious!"

I cocked my head with furrowed brows. Luka? "Like I said, it can't be that bad!"

"You don't understand," Luka pleaded. "You can't do this! You're too young to die!!"

I rolled my eyes, patting Luka on the head as well. "Geez, both of you really are dramatic. If I'm really gonna die from this, Sirius wouldn't be letting me do it in the first place."

Sirius sighed solemnly. "I wouldn't want to put this task on you, Emberlynn, but you're the only one that I know who can do this."

I smiled up at Sirius. "All the more reason for me to do it!"

With another sigh, Sirius led me outside, Luka following behind me. He muttered something about not wanting me to die, which was just probably over exaggeration, probably.

Out in the courtyard, Sirius crouched down and held up a familiar ball of fluff.

"Chutney," I smiled, gently rubbing my hand on her head. "You want me to take care of her?"

"Will it be okay," Sirius asked, his eyes filled with worry.

I beamed up into the pretty violet eyes that I've grown accustomed too. "Of course! I'll make sure she's safe and sound!"

"You don't understand," Luka said, once again. "She's a devil when Sirius isn't around!"

I rolled my eyes as Sirius carefully handed Chutney over to me. "She's just an adorable little racoon, cut her some slack!"

Sirius smiled at me gratefully. "Be careful. Take her to her pen and make sure to feed her. I need to go now."

I nodded my head, waving bye to Sirius as he headed off.

As soon as Sirius was out of sight, Chutney squeaked loudly, digging her claws into my hands.

"Ow," I yelped, my hands releasing her. I frowned at the slight blood trickling down from the small wounds made by the racoon.

"Emberlynn," Luka shouted, coming over to me. "Does it hurt? Do you need bandages?"

I patted the worried guy on the head. "Don't worry, Luka. It's fine." Even as chills ran down my spine and I felt the urge to scratch at the wounds started to greaten. "Let's get Chutney first before she causes anymore damage!"

Me and Luka chased after Chutney as she ran into the big study, where Ray and Fenrir were chatting together about some military stuff.

"Watch out," I called right as Chutney jumped onto their desk, messing everything up. "Sorry," I called to them. "Help them clean up, Luka! I'll get Chutney!"

"Wait," Luka began to protest, but I was already rushing after the little racoon.

Now Chutney was targeting Seth as he strolled down the hallway happily. Was that a new coat he was wearing? It looks fancy. Oh no.

"Seth, run!" I tried to warn the man in the ponytail, but Chutney got to him first, ripping through the tailcoat of Seth's new jacket.

"Whaa!"

"Sorry," I apologized at Seth's shrieking. "I almost got her!"

"Be careful, Alice," Seth yelled after me. "She's the demon in disguise!!"

"Got it!" I barely heeded Seth's warning as I followed Chutney into the kitchen. She ran around everywhere, messing everything up, toppling bottles over.

I used my magic to secretly cushion the fall of all the objects, preventing them from breaking on the ground.

"Chutney," I scolded, turning to the racoon, cornering her.

Chutney squeaked in protest, trying to escape, but I blocked her entryways. Looking deep into her dark brown eyes, I sighed, crouching down and holding a hand out.

"I don't mean any harm," I said gently. "I only want to keep you safe. Sorry for holding you without permission. That's probably some form of sexual harassment." I muttered the last part under my breath as an add on. It could be considered sexual harassment, or animal abuse, I suppose.

I held my hand out gently, the wound on my hand had stopped bleeding and was already starting to heal with my magic. Chutney was wary at first, but after a bit, she managed to gain the courage to venture out and sniff my fingers.

When Chutney bit on my fingers this time, it was playfully. It only hurt for a bit, and she made sure not to give me any long lasting damage. This time Chutney was careful as she ran around the room, not messing anything up anymore.

I giggled, using my magic to put everything back to normal. As Chutney darted to a bunch of fallen bottles of vinegar and soy sauce, I flicked my wrist and my magic lifted it up into the air. As she ran through a maze of fallen tomatoes, I grabbed the bag as the fallen fruits dropped back in.

Soon enough, the whole place was clean, and I didn't even use that much magic either!

"Good girl," I murmured, rubbing Chutney's head gently.

Chutney squeaked in response, pressing against my fingers for a moment before darting outside. At the door she looked back, as if waiting for me to follow.

With another giggle, I walked outside, Chutney at my heels, following along.
