I can't help but wonder why he changed his mind. I want to ask him about it, but I don't want to fight with him since we're finally in a good place. Within minutes, our cart is filled with laundry pods, candles that I picked out, lots of snacks, and some to-go salads. Most of the snacks are for Justin, and I can't help but fantasize about what it would be like if we lived together.
"We should do this more often," I say and he laughs and then says, "You think I do grocery shopping? Well, pay attention cause this is a one-time thing" "That is too bad." I say teasingly pouting. " After we paid for the groceries Justin and I carried them out to the car and rushed to my dorm. I quickly change into my maroon dress and some flats, which Justin seems to like a lot. After I put the groceries away we walk to his car and I text Logan we're on our way.
Justin is tense the whole ride up there. I can see he is a little nervous. I know he doesn't like it but I'm glad he decided to go after all. While we drive up the huge driveway of his dad's mansion Allison is waiting outside to greet us. She is so sweet. Justin avoids her attempt at a hug and I'm happy to give her one in return. She wraps her tiny arms around me while she whispers "Thank you, Rachel. I know we have to thank you for bringing him here. Richard and I are very happy he finally decided to come after all this time."
When I pull away from our long but warm hug I can see the happy tears in her eyes. She quickly swallows them away and walks us through the hall into the living room where Logan and Richard are watching football. "Hey, you," Logan says and stands up to hug me. Justin glares at Logan while he hugs me. "Hello sun, I'm glad you're here," Richard says to Justin, but Justin doesn't even blink. "So are we. Thank you for having us." I say and give him a small smile. "No, it is our pleasure." He assures us. Justin doesn't hesitate and immediately leaves the room.
I let him be for now and joined Logan and Richard. I'm not a sports fan but I wan't to spend some time with Logan. Richard leaves to go help Allison in the kitchen and Logan and I chat about our assignment for next week. I decided to tell him everything that happened earlier today and try my best not to cry. Logan is very understanding and despite his and Justin's dislike for each other, he does support my relationship with him. After an hour Logan gets called to set the table ready. "Dinner is ready in fifteen minutes" Allison yells from the kitchen.
I decided to go and find Justin. I haven't seen him in a while. I wonder what he's doing. I eventually found him lying on a sunbed in the garden. "Hey, you. Are you okay?" I ask trying to figure out why he left. "Yeah." He says continuing to stare at the stars. I crawl next to him on the sunbed and lay my head on his chest. He puts his arm around me and hugs me tight as if he is afraid I'd let him go. You sure you're okay?" I ask again. "Yes, if I wasn't I would tell you. Now mind your own business" He says with an annoyed tone while he roughly unhugs his arms around me.
Ouch, he definitely is not okay. I knew this could be a bad idea I just hoped it wouldn't be. "Hmm hmmm, Dinner is ready" Logan groans and I quickly jump up. Justin immediately walks inside without even looking at Logan. "I uh we're just__." Before I can finish Logan says "Rach, it's fine. Don't worry" and I smile at him and follow him to the dining room. "Wow, this looks all so delicious," I say while I take a seat next to Justin. Logan sits across from me and of course, Richard sits at the head of the table. Allison sits across from Justin and I just hope he will behave.
"Well, my dear say that after you tasted it." She went all out and made lasagna, garlic bread, and a side salad as well. "Rachel, how do you like medical school so far? Do you like your classes?" Richard asks while I fill my plate with some salad and lasagna. "Uh yeah, I like it a lot. The teachers are nice and the campus is beautiful." I see Justin is uncomfortable and I take his hand under the table. He answers my thoughts by squeezing them tightly. "That is great to hear Rachel." Richard says and I smile"So Rachel, have you found an internship?" Allison asks
"No, I haven't. I am still looking, but sadly I have no experience at the job and yet they all desire someone with at least one year of experience." "That's sad to hear, but maybe I can help. I'm the co-owner of Washington City Hospital. I can get you a few interviews if you want." I can't believe my ears right now. I'm filled with excitement and want to dance and jump around the table, but that would be weird, so instead, I smile and lean my head on both my hands. I noticed Justin's eyes on me as I couldn't bear my luck.
"That, that would be great. Thank you so much." I stutter in excitement. Within minutes all of our plates were empty and everyone seemed to enjoy Allison's cooking skills. It tasted very good. After dinner, Allison returns to the kitchen to prepare the desserts. Logan went upstairs and Justin, Richard, and I went to the living room where Justin didn't stay one minute. I take a seat by the fireplace while Richard is looking for some family photo albums. He takes a seat next to me and opens the album.
