Iseul stood stiffly behind Doyoung and Yuta as the two seriously discussed about the jewelry before them. She was supposed to be in bed after staying up all night to do bookkeeping.

How did she get into this again?

"I'm not sure if you can borrow my finger. I think I need it in my everyday life therefore I can't cut it off."  Iseul groggily answered. She apologized for her yawn and tried her best to stay awake.

"Your hand is similar in size to Daeun's. I know you hate rings, but I really need help. If I try to secretly measure her finger she might get a gist of it. That girl is too smart and piecing it together for her would be a piece of cake."

"Are you getting promise rings or something? I know your anniversary is in a couple of weeks."

"No, engagement ring."

That's the story of how she was dragged around to every jewelry store Doyoung knew of. He had Sicheng distract her by taking her to an arboretum Daeun absolutely loved visiting. Iseul would prefer that rather than hearing the two bicker over the ring.

"What do you think of this one, bambi?" Yuta pointed to the rose gold ring that shimmered with the small diamond details. It was beautiful, but knew it would be very overwhelming for Daeun.

Iseul shook her head. "No. Daeun doesn't like rings with too much bling or sparkle. She likes it more on the simple side."

"How about this one?" Doyoung pointed to the ring beside it which was much more simple, but had a center stone which Iseul disapproved of right away. It wasn't that big yes, but she knew how destructive Daeun's hands were.

"She doesn't like anything with a jewel that big. I would give it a week before the center stone goes missing." Iseul immediately disagreed.

"Should I just give her the pull tag from a sprite can?" Doyoung sighed. He was drained from thinking and worrying about the proposal. He had almost everything planned, but he was beginning to doubt his plans.

"If you give up now, you have to pay for gas and dinner." Yuta jokingly threatened. He patted Doyoung's shoulder in an attempt to comfort him. "We'll find one eventually. We can look at other stores or consider getting one customized."

Iseul separated from the temporarily and checked on the other rings. She still couldn't believe two of her best friends might actually get married. Doyoung had a one-sided rivalry with Daeun. Daeun was always a rank above Doyoung back in middle school and high school and always beat him in tasks and games.

"What did you beat her in? I know it isn't cooking because that's her only weakness." Iseul, 14 at the time, curiously poked. She heard Daeun lost at something for once, so she decided to interview the winner.

"I beat her expectations too."

"I don't think I'm following."

"She thinks it's cute? But why does she think it's cute."

"What's cute?"

"Me." Doyoung's eyes were wide and mouth slightly agape. If you look at him closely, his cheeks were dusted with pink as his thoughts continued to eat at his sanity.

"Why is it affecting you- wait a minute. You like her?"

"What? I don't! I'm just um... It's only been a year and-"

"You do! Oh my gosh, you like Park Daeun? Your rival?  Sicheng and Sai need to hear about this."

"Wait no! I'll give you money just shit the fuck up!"
