"Who audited at Bubblegum Corporation? A representative wants to speak with you."
"WHO ATE MY SNACKS?!"
"Who did the bookkeeping for Star Blossom Café?"
The whole office was rowdy as usual. Well, those who worked on her floor were. Everyone was busy with both business and casual matters, but they made sure not to be too loud to bother anyone.
Iseul finished tidying up her table and greeted those who passed by her work area. She was almost done for the day. All she needed was to attend the meeting and she was a free woman. She tied her long hair back into a low ponytail before relaxing into her seat.
She kept it long since she wanted to change up her usual short haired look. Sungchan even influenced her in dying her hair which was very daunting for her. After testing the waters with brown, she wanted to try brighter colors. Kun was a very open-minded boss anyway.
"Did you finish the ledger?" Hanjin, one of the new hires, quietly asked.
"I did, but it's not for free." Iseul reminded. She waved the precious ledger in front of her coworker as she spun around in her chair. Everyone knew the price they had to pay if they wanted her to do a portion of their work. "Where's the goods?"
Hanjin sighed and placed the brown envelope onto Iseul's table. Iseul checked the contents before discreetly handing over the ledger with an approving nod. The two shook hands before Hanjin left to return to his work area.
"Are you scaring the new hires again?" Xiaojun, her table neighbor, motioned to the envelope. There was a disapproving click of his tongue, but Iseul knew it was just him trying to annoy her.
"I'm not bullying them. I'm not an asshole like Changmi. We're doing business." Iseul corrected. "Hanjin had a family emergency the other day so I finished up his work. I offered to do it for free, but he insisted paying the price."
"And the price is coupons to your favorite ice cream place? You can do better than that. You know how much eyes, kidneys, and livers sell for!"
"At least I don't ask for money." Iseul shrugged. She swiveled her chair closer to Xiaojun's table and handed him a coupon. "Let's get some mint chocolate ice cream next week. He got some pretty good coupons, so I can include you on this one."
"Who am I to say no to blessings? Let's bring Mai along." Like Iseul, Xiaojun loved mint chocolate ice cream. It was one of the reasons why they grew closer and met outside of work.
"What are you two plotting with my daughter?" Kun's sudden appearance didn't faze the two, but the other employees seemed intimidated to see their boss. "Here I was thinking you two would be working."
"Hi Kun. You look as stressed as ever." Iseul teased, waving at him with a lazy grin. "We finished early like the good employees we are. You just catch us relaxing during our grace period."
"This is why you're growing older faster." Xiaojun sighed, irking Kun even more. "Come on, relax! You should stop scowling or you'll have really bad wrinkles by the time Mai is in college."
Kun took a deep breath, not wanting to deal with their playful teasing. He walked away, muttering the reminder he came to give. "Just get in the conference room before I lock you two out. Bring your own coffee if you need it."
The two dropped by the little kitchen area in the office to grab a coffee before quietly entering the conference room. There were some of the high position employees and even Kun's father. It was rare for him to show up in their Korean branch. It meant that there was some big news.
