I dropped my purse at the sudden sound of knocking at my door.

"Not now..." I grumbled under my breath scooping up my purse as I marched to the door.

I opened the door and immediately pretty much had my toddler son thrust into my face by my ex husband.

"Ian? What the hell are you doing? You're meant to have him for the weekend," I said carefully putting Ryan, my son, down.

"Sorry Y/N I have plans I need you to take care of him,"

"Um you've had all week to make plans, I have an audition which I'm now running late for, look just please take him I'll pick him up when I'm done,"

"Y/N we know your auditions are a dead end just take him,"

I scowled "It's a callback actually,"

He snorted "So they want to reject in person how thoughtful,"

I looked at Ryan who was toddling up to his dad who picked him and put him next to me which made him cry.

"Ian stop it come on he wants his time with you," I said cuddling Ryan close to me.

Ian started marching up to his car "No not gonna happen Y/N I have a date,"

I felt a slight sting inside me as he said that but took a deep breath "Well your dates are less successful than my auditions so come on get your parenting pants on and look after your son this was our agreement,"

"Have fun at mommy's Ryan!" He shouted as he drove away.

"God dammit Ian!" I yelled.

I sighed closing the door and my thoughts were swirling and I couldn't think straight with Ryan's crying.

"Dada!" He yelled reaching for the door.

"I know I'm sorry honey, I'm so sorry," I whispered trying to hold back the tears.

I sighed rubbing his back and getting my phone out my purse texting the casting director that I wouldn't be able to make it.

I had changed out my nice clothes and downgraded to my baggiest hoodie and track pants as I watched my son dig through his toy box.

He pointed at the ball in his hand "B-B-Ball,"

I gave a small smile "Yes it is a ball sweetheart well done,"

I wouldn't give up Ryan for the world, Ian however I'd trade him in the shop for a better nicer model that had seat warmers and had a decent music selection.

Me and Ian separated when Ryan was only a few months old. We had got together in our teens and married at 21, we had our problems for a few years and we thought a kid was the solution.

We were wrong.

Ryan was a blessing in my life but not to me and Ian's marriage.

I felt my phone buzzing in my pocket and looked down seeing it was my agent.

"Dammit..." I murmured picking the phone up "Hi Sharon,"

"Get your ass dressed to that audition right now,"

I sighed "I can't do that I have to take care of Ryan,"

"Yes your ex husband is an asshole I get it, but I just got off the phone with the casting director and she said she's more than happy for you to bring Ryan to the audition, they're really enthusiastic about you doing this callback Y/N, this could be your chance,"

I looked at Ryan who threw the ball to the other side of the room and waddled after it yelling ball and I sighed "Ok I'll do it,"

I turned off my car engine and rubbed at my eyes and turned to look at Ryan in his baby seat. I dressed him in the outfit he wore at a friends wedding last week a smart little suit with a bow tie.

"Ok mister, I know we haven't hit the age of being able to have a full conversation with each other, so you are not gonna understand this pep talk, but best behaviour ok? If you can't do that then charm them with cute you can be,"

Ryan blankly stared at me and slowly gave a cheeky grin. I sighed "Okay we are doomed come on sweetheart,"

I got out the car and retrieved Ryan from his seat and held him tight as I made my way to the entrance.

I walked up to the receptionist and pulled my best smile "Hi I'm Y/N Y/L/N, I have a callback,"

The receptionist nodded not looking up from her computer "Take a seat over there someone will come get you shortly,"

I nodded and made my way to the seats in the corner and slowly put Ryan down by my feet as I sat down.

He was immediately fixed on the magazines on the table in front of him and started dramatically flipping the pages and stopping at one "Ball!" He announced pointing at a picture of a dog chasing one.

I cringed mentally "Well done honey, thank you for letting us all know,"

I glanced up and thankfully the receptionist was still unbothered by her surroundings.

After a few minutes I started to tap my foot nervously as it felt like I was waiting for a lifetime. I looked down at my phone and found a text from Sharon saying good luck and I sighed and when I looked up I found Ryan wasn't by my feet anymore and I dropped my phone and looked around manically.

And saw he managed to speed across the room "Ryan, no!" I hissed scrambling to my feet.

He looked at me and giggled and continued to run through the corridor "Sweetheart this isn't a game! Come back!" I said racing after him.

He had turned a corner and I panicked that he wasn't in view anymore. As I turned the corner I found he was no longer running away but he had stopped and was starring at someone who was crouched in front of him.

"Hi, where did you come from? What's your name?"

Ryan stood there awkwardly then turned to look at me and toddled up and hid behind my leg.

I breathed a sigh of relief as I patted his head "Thank you sorry he got loose-"

I cut myself off as I looked at the man who stood up in front of me.

I was fully aware who he was and damm he was handsome in person.

"It's ok, I assume you're Y/N I'm Sebastian I was asked to come get you,"

I slowly nodded as I picked Ryan up "Yes I'm Y/N this is Ryan,"

Sebastian beamed "Hi Ryan, it's nice to meet you,"

Ryan hid in my chest and I smiled rubbing his back "He's a little shy with new people,"

"It's ok I get it, come follow me and we can get started,"

I nodded and followed him through the corridor.
