Chapter 42
"We have to reach Bhadra's palace, without getting noticed. If you see it, it is an impossible task but lucky you, you have me. To make our lives harder, Bhadra has power detecting devices set all over the town, except inside the castle premises. So the only way to get in is by not using our powers till the entrance of the palace." Chag Explained. A map of Bhadra's capital city was laid out on the worktable of Anuthama's study.
"We can change our identities. I mean Agni can work on that right?" Lekha interjected.
"No, I can't use my powers, remember, I am the crowned prince of Bhadra. In fact, the only person who must not use powers at any cost is me. I am the most identifiable person in the group." Agni clarified.
"Oh right, what about Mythri and Bilvani then?" Yamya asked, biting her nail to the point where there was nothing but the cuticle left.
"The devices were invented recently and they work on identifying an already known power source. Every year citizens of Bhadra register their power abilities. It's the first and foremost rule of Bhadra's constitution now." Agni clarified.
"So I can use my healing, right?" Manu asked.
"No," Agni paused, "I mean, I don't know. I haven't been to Bhadra since that bastard killed Samudra."
"Whose Samudra?" Indriya asked, narrowing her brows.
"No one that important." Agni sighed as his expression changed from annoyance to guilt and sadness, when Indriya's stare lingered, "Fine, I'll tell you later." He said looking back at the map.
An awkward silence had suddenly swept over in the room after the question Indriya had asked. Chag felt sorry for Agni but was glad that he didn't want to hide a huge part of his life from his friend or girlfriend. He couldn't decide what Indriya was to Agni because once he would say he wanted to just be friends with her and the next minute he is drooling all over her like a horny teenager.
"But isn't every unknown source of power checked and verified?" Indriya asked.
"Yes, they are. They are verified in the port when people enter the nation and are also monitored in the major towns and cities." Anuthama replied as he sat down on his red velvet cushioned chair.
"We have to divide into two groups. One needs to be the team to rescue Indriya's father and the second team needs to find Maan and eliminate her." Yamya suggested, her eyebrows were closely knitted together as she stood with her back leaning against the wall.
"That's a good idea, but who's doing what?" Apramēya appeared out of nowhere.
"Well, we need Apramēya in one group and Vardhi in the other as these two people are the only ones who can use their power undetected." Chag proposed.
They decided on the teams patiently weighing out various options, till the sun shone overhead and their belly's grumbled with hunger.
"Wait, I am sorry there is a change of plan. I have to meet my dear father-in-law, don't you think?" Indriya interjected.
