Chapter 6

Indriya spent the rest of the day reading the books that she had bought. Her medicines kept her fever down but also made her doze off very often.

Whenever she stopped reading, her thoughts went back to the man with the sword, outside the cafeteria and the creature on the floor of the restaurant's washroom and she would have tremendous headaches and fierce pangs of fear. 'Was he in any way related to what happened in the washroom?'

After that she dozed and slept like a log.

Indriya woke up once again to see that it was dark, nearly midnight but she heard Chag talking to someone on the balcony.

"What do you mean she saw you, dude?" He said gravely, she peeped through the door of her bedroom and she saw him clench his jaw in anger? Fear or frustration?

She couldn't see the person because of the curtain hanging off the balcony door but heard another deep masculine voice say "I don't know, she saw me. At least that's what it felt like. Okay, I have to sleep, it is late. Night night. Her eyes dilated in fear and she put a hand on her chest as though she was trying to calm down."

'Who was that?' She thought.

She expected to see the person when he would have walked into the house to leave through the front door but the only person who came in was Chag. Indriya quickly got into bed and covered her blanket over her head, she heard footsteps that grew louder as Chag walked towards her room.

The door swung open and she felt Chag's eyes on her. She tensed as she felt him look at her. She expected him to walk towards his chair and sit down but he simply closed the door and walked away.

When the footsteps grew fainter she removed her blanket from on top of her and sighed in relief. Her heart was beating fast. She clenched her fists and slowly unclenched them.

'Who was that person? What did he want? How did Chag know him? Was it the same person she saw earlier this morning outside the pizzeria ? He gave a description of everything like he saw it with his own eyes.' She thought.

"No. No, that can't be it." she told herself softly.

Was it on a phone? It did sound like the person was actually present. Who was it?

------———————————————————

"Indriya." A familiar masculine voice called. It was deep but soft and warm. It felt like honey was being poured into her ears as the sound of her name resonated through her head.

Her name was pronounced with absolute clarity and with such precision, that every syllable made the hair on the back of her neck stand. When she turned around to see who it was, she saw a pair of dark eyes staring at her.

She could only see the man's eyes, nothing else but the eyes. The rest of the person was covered in a black cloak and his features were concealed in a dust of darkness, leaving his eyes. Red smoke surrounded them like a cloud covering the peak of the mountain, while the dust of black ash veiled him.

His eyes were empty, devoid of any feeling and she could feel those very eyes penetrate hers. She didn't dare to look anywhere else, she couldn't look anywhere else.
