"no, wait, stop." i laughed as rafe, JJ and topper looked at me. "that's the wrong corner."
"what?" topper asked.
"i said clear the front right corner out, not the front left."
"this is the front right." JJ said.
"i said when you're facing into the restaurant, that front right." i said, shifting sadie onto my other hip.
"does it really matter what corner the christmas tree is in?" rafe asked. "we already moved all the tables."
"it doesn't, but it'd look better in that corner."
"okay," he said and looked at the boys. "move it back."
"come on," JJ groaned as i smiled. rafe looked back at me.
"where'd the girls go?" he asked.
"outside, they're decorating the pier or something with fake garland."
he laughed and kissed me, then kissed sadie's head.
"thanks," i smiled.
"anything for you." he nodded and went back to helping JJ and topper. i turned, going back into the office and grabbing sadie's jacket, pulling it on her tiny body, then pull her little beanie on before pulling my jacket on. i walked out the back and around the building, seeing the laughing as the end of the pier laughing. smiled, breathing out and letting my breath show in the cold air. it'd been an unusually cold winter this year. usually it didn't get below fifty, but they had even suspected snow this year, which never happened.
"hey, there you are." i heard and looked over, seeing john b round the corner with beck and pope.
"hey guys," i smiled.
"rafe sent us out to get an assignment from you."
"can i trust you guys on a ladder or should i have you guys switch with rafe and topper?"
"i can be trusted." pope said.
"we cannot be." beck shook his head as i laughed.
"inside," i pointed and followed them. "rafe, topper, i have a new duty for you guys, with pope."
"at your service." topper bowed, a string of garland wrapped around his neck.
"okay, rafe i have a new duty for you." i said which made them laugh.
"hey!" topper said. "i can be trusted."
"on a ladder?" i asked.
"yeah," he shrugged.
"ladder?" rafe asked.
"i need the christmas lights put up."
"you do realize we're going to have to take all this down in like three weeks, right?" JJ asked.
"well, you guys have to." i smiled. "i'm the boss, i don't do this work."
"god, i can't wait for mom and kayden to come back." JJ shook his head.
"where'd they go again?" topper asked.
"texas, my cousin is getting married or something." i shrugged.
"and you guys didn't get invited?" pope asked.
"we did, but JJ can't be trusted in serious situations and can't be trusted home alone, so i stayed." i laughed and looked to JJ.
"i joked one time about throwing a party!"
"joked," i nodded. "yeah."
"well if you guys aren't throwing a party, then i am." noelle stated as she and the girls walked in. "so everyone at my place tonight."
