Mike let out a long wow as the bottle landed on him. You know, one of those wow's where you're surprised but you don't really want to show it. That was Mike and I combined.

And to make it worse, everyone wanted it to happen.

"Okay, you two," Sophie smirked, "We already chose something for you just in case it actually did happen."

"Is this thing rigged?" I joked, just to take off some pressure. A few chuckled while others watched like it was a movie.

"You and Mike go have your fun. You don't have to bring back anything. We trust you," Carly winked as she finished for Sophie.

I reluctantly got up and followed Mike out to the shore while flipping off everyone. That got quite a few laughs.

"So...how's life?" I asked awkwardly. I always said "how's life" when a situation got awkward. I didn't know why, all it did was add fuel to the fire.

He nodded. I guess that meant good?

"How are things with you and your enemy?" He asked.

"Eh, on and off. Sometimes I thought we'd switch to being frenemies, but a girl can dream," I replied.

Mike chuckled at that.

We walked in silence for a few minutes until he stopped.

"Lei?"

I swallowed. "Yeah?"

"Well, you know those rumors going on that I uh, 'like you'?" He put up air quotes.

I nodded and hummed.

"Well, those aren't true at all."

"Wait, what?" I was completely thrown off by what Mike said, until suddenly it made sense. That's when I decided to rant.

"Those backstabbing assholes played a prank on both of us, and while you knew, you had to go with it. What the hell is wrong with everyone?!

"I mean, come on! One minute I'm trying to figure out my feelings here, next minute, we're pranking each other, and then you're giving me advice? And then it goes from here to there, to everywhere! Why is everything so screwed up?!

"It's like this whole summer so far has been so confusing, and you know what the worst part is? It's only been two weeks!"

I took a few breaths and then continued to say what I've wanted to say forever.

"First there was Blake, then Alec, then back to Blake, then you, and ughhhh what is wrong with--"

That's when Mike decided to kiss me for no apparent reason at all.

Once he let go, he explained, "They were looking. You might want to lower your voice. I had to go the cliche way. Plus, I have a plan."

I frowned at him and crossed my arms. "That didn't mean you had to put your greasy lips on me!"

"They're not greasy, they're perfect," Mike joked, "Anyway, why don't we get back at them for confusing the hell out of us these past two weeks?"

"What do you mean? There's nothing really to do."

"Well, I know you're not going to like this, but we're gonna have to fake date."

I thought for a millisecond and replied, "Deal."
