Chapter 43
Ella's POV
Austin and I sit in his room on his bed. I sit on his lap while he plays with my hair. This is the last day at the summer house for this year and it's kind of killing me knowing that I won't be able to see Austin everyday.
"You know there are two things we never crossed of our list." Austin says and I turn around and straddle him and notice the devilish grin playing on his face.
"And what might that be?" I ask him even though I know. I just want to hear him say it.
"Well we didn't find true love." He tells me and I hit him lightly and we laugh.
"Shut up." I say and lean in to kiss him. He holds me to him for a couple seconds until we break apart and look each other in the eyes. "I think this is love enough." And we both laugh again.
I look at his still injured shoulder and run my fingers over it. I see that it is healing actually quite decently. The spot on his leg that got shot isn't visible so I can't see how that is but I'm sure it's fine. That day scares me and I think about it all the time, but Austin is always there to reassure me that he is fine and that nothing like that will ever happen again.
"Ok fair enough." He laughs and kisses me back.
"Then what was the other things we haven't done yet?" I ask him as he places his hands on my lower back.
"Well, we haven't gone skinny dipping yet. He says and I stand up and grab his hand.
"Will that be enough for your whole 'start and end with thrill' philosophy you had at the beginning of the summer?"
"Ya I think it'll work."
"Well then let's go." I tell him and we both laugh.
We go out to the back and thankfully it's pretty late so no one else is up to bother us. We are now able to say that we completed our summer bucket list and I couldn't be happier. My long time best friend turned out to be the guy that I love, and he feels the same way back, infact he's always felt like that towards me. I don't know why it took him almost dying for me to fully realize that I loved him, but now he is mine and I've never been happier. This is the boy who was always there for me through tough situations, even if it was situations involving other guys. The boy who never wanted me to get hurt because of anything. The boy who promised to protect me from everything, even if it meant that he gets hurt himself. The boy who I have known since the day I was born. We can be funny and stupid with each other and we've both seen each other at the worst of times. To us it doesn't matter what we look like anymore because we'll always be perfect in the other's eyes. I am the luckiest girl ever since I managed to scoop him up. I mean any girl could've came along and easily outshone me. He is the boy next door, and I'm in love with him. I'm in love with my best friend! It don't think it can get much better than this.
(A/N: Stop! This is not the end! No there is still an epilogue. Sorry this was so short, I just needed to put a final chapter and they needed to cross off the last two items. So come back in a week and I will have an epilogue ready for you all to read. Until then.
TTYL!!!!
