Chapter 23 -A

Austin's POV

"Ella, we're here!" I say to Ella who has fallen asleep against the window.

"Where are we Austin?" She asks tiredly.

"Our first stop." I reply knowing she knows where we are.

"Are we at the bungee jumping place?" She stretches and lets out a little yawn.

"Ya, we are here." She opens her eyes and takes in the scenery.

"Can I go back to sleep?"

"No, we are going bungee jumping."

"No sleep is better." She whines.

"Come on Ella, don't make me carry you." I threaten.

"You won't touch me." She challenges.

"Oh really now."

I get out of the car and walk over to her side, and knock on the window. I open her door and grab her bridal style.

"Austin! Put me down right now!" She playfully hits me.

"You are not far from the ground, besides I wouldn't drop you, intentionally."

"You two are such a cute couple!" An elderly lady tells us.

"Oh we aren't dating." Ella corrects her. "We've just known each other for ever."

"You two are going to get married." I hear her mumble as she walks away. I wonder if Ella heard her.

"Now, I'm up and won't go back to the car, so put me down." She begs.

"What is the magic word?" I tease her.

"Austin, will you please put me on the ground?" She asks looking at me with her cute puppy dog face.

"I'll consider it." I tell her.

"Austin!" She yells and lightly slaps me.

"Fine, fine." I place her on the ground.

I go and lock the truck and walk back over to Ella.

"You ready to do this?" I ask her suddenly remembering her fear of heights.

"As ready as I'll ever be."

We walk to the main building to sign in, since we had a reservation. The man checks us in and leads us to the place to get our harnesses and helmets. He goes over all of the rules and safety percussions, and soon we are ready to go. We get there and I look over the edge. That is a huge drop.

"You ready Austin?" Ella asks me.

"Ladies first." I reply.

"Are you scared Austin?" She teases walking over to me slowly.

"N-no, just trying to be kind." I say as convincing as possible.

"I didn't know there was anything that could scare you." She tells me in surprise.

"I'm not scared of heights like you are, I'm just scared that the cord is going to snap and that I'm going to plummit towards the ground and die." I admit. "And I'm a normal human being; there are many things that scare me."

"Well, since we are here you can try and tackle this fear. That's what I'm going to try and do."

"Fine, I'll go first."

"I was going to go first, but if you insist." She says and sticks out her tongue.

I walk over to a lady who looks to be in about her late 30's, early 40's. She hooks me up to many things that insure I won't go flying off and die. She insists that the cord won't break and She tells me to climb over the railing and wait for her countdown.
