"We're loosing him again!", the man wearing a dark blue scrub and a white lab coat, a stethoscope around his neck and glasses on his nose, shouted and reached out for the defibrillator a nurse had prepared for him, "Ready? Go!"
Robert's whole body tensed up, releasing him after a few seconds, yet- according to the monitor next to his bed- without a heartbeat.
"Again!", the doctor announced before he placed the two paddles on Robert's bare chest again, sending electric shocks all through his body.
No response.
"Robbie", I sobbed, tears streaming down my cheeks like waterfalls, as I reached out for him but once more was kept away by the mystical border between our places.
"Again!"
Sending another wave of electricity through his body, the monitor eventually started to beep. Slow and weak, yet in a comforting rhythm.
"He's back", the doctor realized with a relieved smile on his face, "We'll make a few tests and then he'll stay at the ICU! Take care of him! He's in a critical condition!"
"Yes, Dr. Coulson", one of the nurses wearing a light blue scrub replied, nodding slightly, as they're voices became duller and duller and I felt the undertow pulling me away from him once again.
But as soon as I found myself facing the surface of the river Thames again, I realized how the earth around me began to move, sending vibrations all through my body as I tried to hold on to the railing, trying not to fall.
"Grace!", I screamed anxiously, afraid something might happen to her, "Grace!"
Nervously, I looked around, trying to find her, trying to make sure she was alright. But as much as I tried, she was nowhere in sight.
My eyes filling with tears, I gulped and quickly wiped them away as the earth started to move more and more.
How could this be? An earthquake.
It was like poison for this-... This-... Magical place."Gracie!", I yelled through the tears that were streaming down my cheeks, desperately trying to make it through this uproar, "Please don't do this to me!"
But I couldn't find her, not even when the earth eventually stopped moving and I recognized a dull, yet familiar voice in my ears that made me turn around and look back at the flowing water again until my vision got blurred and I saw her face.
"Phil", Liz yelled and quickened her pace to approach the man wearing a white lab coat who had just exited Robert's room, "Hey, Phil!"
He paused and turned around, regarding Liz who was desperately trying to catch her breath in front of him, arms akimbo.
"Elizabeth?", he asked in surprise, narrowing his eyes to make sure he was not mistaking, "Liz, is that you?"
She nodded quickly, taking a deep breath.
"Are you-...", she wanted to ask but had to pause in order to take another deep breath, pointing at the door he had just closed, "Are you responsible for Robert-uhm, Mr. Downey?"
He looked back at the door, then back at Liz, nodding slightly.
"Yeah, I am", he replied hesitantly, "But you know, I can't let you in although you're a friend of mine. I'm pretty sure fans are not allowed at the ICU..."
Immediately, she started to laugh.
"I'm not a fan, Phil", she corrected him seriously, punching his shoulder, "I'm his therapist. I have to see him, Phil. It's really important."
