Robert gently laid his arm around my waist, holding me close to him as we walked through the streets of Paris at night.

"I can't believe I've never been here before", he mumbled dreamily and looked up to the sky.

"Well, you've surely missed something then", I countered smirkingly and laid my head against his shoulder, feeling his warmth.

He chuckled and softly pressed his lips against my forehead, making me feel safe and welcomed.

I quickly turned away, trying to hide I was blushing.

"You know", he added after a while, "I've got a desperate need, Miss Deveraux. And being around you really doesn't make it easier for me to control that desire..."

I looked up to him and playfully punched his shoulder.

"Shut up, Robert!", I giggled then and placed my finger on his soft lips.

He chuckled and his eyes crinkled as usually.

"Just go on", he continued smirkingly, "I like that..."

I slowly drifted away from his tight embrace and walked in front of him, turning around every now and then to be sure he was still there.

"You're playing with me, right?", he assumed, following me.

I shrugged and smiled from one ear to another.

"You'll have to find out", I replied and reached out for his hand.

Immediately, he grabbed my hand and spinned me around to catch me right when I fell into his arms.

His face was now close to me. I already felt his soft breath on my skin that made my whole body shiver, his caramel eyes staring at me intensely.

"Better watch your step", he whispered and half smiled at me, "Why don't you fall for my charm?"

"Who says I'm not?", I countered scarcely audible, trying to catch my breath before he helped me to get up again.

He gently tucked a dark curly strand behind my ear, his hand resting on my cheek.

"I think I've fallen in love with you, Kate Deveraux", he added quietly, still regarding me closely, "And I'm going to kiss you now. So please... Don't hit me."

He smirked one last time, trying to cover his nervousness, before he slowly moved closer until he finally kissed me.

Immediately, I buried my fingers in his dark brown hair, pulling him closer towards me as I kissed him back.

This felt just right. There were rarely any moments in life where everything seemed to be just right. But this moment surely was. It was perfect. The place was right, the time was right. And Robert was... Perfect.

Suddenly, he opened his eyes and nervously looked around. He has fallen asleep on the couch earlier, the glass and the bottle of scotch still standing on the table next to him.

He slowly sat up, rubbing his eyes before he sighed and looked at the clock. It was already 2 a.m.

He ran his fingers through his hair, poured himself another glass and emptied it at once. Then he got up, apathetically strolling upstairs. Sometimes, he almost missed the stairs because he was already too drunk. But then, just in time, he grabbed the banister without falling down and hurting himself.

As he finally reached our chamber, he went right trough the room, opening the door to enter the balcony with its beautiful and breathtaking view above the city. Outside, he carefully leaned over the railing looking down to the streets.
