I found a thick tree and scrambled up high into its branches. I guess the claws and a tail isn't all that bad. My balance is way better than it ever was but not exposing my ass when my tail lost control was a constant concern. Fullness made me sleepy. That meal, however conflicting, was the best I've had in.. a long time. My body felt warm and heavy. I lodged myself in the dense tree branches. Bending some one way and breaking others off completley. Wooden points that would have cut my skin and drawn blood before, were gentle caresses now.
This is a good spot, I thought. There wasn't much out there that could harm me but finding a safe place to sleep was instinctual for any species. The cover provided by the branches was ideal, it was high enough that most things couldn't reach my perch, and I wanted to slip into a food coma without being woken up to witness an intimate morning routine.
I felt a bubbling feeling in my stomach. Digesting that much food at one time will probably be hard on my body. Not to mention most of it was raw. I really hope it doesnt make me sick, it would be a shame to loose a big meal like that.
...
The sun was bright over head when I woke up. A disappointing event since it meant breakfast was over. Climbing down from the tree, I decided I better go straight back to the hut to make sure Gorza and Ortha weren't worried about my going missing. But I found something devastating on the way back.
The Orcs are not a shy people, they have sex often and pretty much everywhere. The first time I saw a coupling outside I was shocked to the point I stopped in my tracks. Gorza swatted at me and scolded me for looking. The Orc way is to act as if you dont see anything, treat them as if they were invisible.
Today was more difficult. It's hard to pretend you dont see anything when a coupling occurs in the middle of the path back to camp. I hid in the tree line out of sight determined to go around the blockade. But I knew that voice and the jingling sound of metal. It was just one look but it dropped my heart to the pit of my stomach. That was Ortha but the one she was with wasn't Gorza. A male Orc who was missing an arm. I had never seen this man before, yet he was on top of her and she wasn't pushing him away. My teeth gritted together.
This wasn't possible. Ortha and Gorza were great together. They were very happy. I might really throw up now. I guess you dont ever truly know a person. I also thought Cerastes and I were happy, untill we weren't. As quietly as I could I got away from them. The feelings I felt when my husband betrayed me, I didn't want Gorza to feel that way.
But is not telling lying?
What happeneds if I dont tell her? She might find out on her own or realize I knew about it and didn't tell her. The world was changing again. Change, after change, after change. Was it to much to wish that it would stay still? That good things lasted.
I returned back to the Orc village with an ache in my chest and my head hung low. I've committed no crime, done nothing wrong, but my stomach was still churning at the thought of meeting Gorza. Instead of returning to the pod, should I just start building a house somewhere els. Its not my relationship to meddle in.
I stood outside the hut and deliberating. Go in, dont go in. My heart hammered in my chest. To many emotions were stirred up in a short amount of time.
"Bait!" A slap on the back from behind accompanied the shout. "Where go? Bait missed breakfast. Not worry eat fish jerky instead."
I choked up a bit at the suprize. Her smile was wide and care free. I couldn't tell her. Even if I wanted to my body wouldn't let me. My throat felt swollen and when I swallowed I was sure there was a lump of something stuck there.
"Thank you Gorza but I'm not hungry." I shook my head my black hair hung loose with small pieces of leaves and twigs tangled up from my sleeping place.
