Kavern looked me up and down, considering me.

"Dante take this Rowan to a spare in my wing. Near Vihars place should be suitable. A Dame should be with her offspring." He said waving us off.

"Yes." Dante said in agreement.

Kavern collected the girls swiftly although they didn't want to be picked up. Aelia even took a swipe at him. Kavern looked down at his clothes to find that they werent torn.
He inspected Aelia and Idelias claws and found they were short to the finger.

"Theyre claws are under developed." He said with a frown. "But they will grow in." He nodded to himself.
I wasn't going to tell them that they were only clipped. The day had been to exciting as it was.

"Come along Vihar were going to put your sisters names in the mountains heart." He told him as he exited the room. Vihar spared a look at me before following behind Kavern. Cerastes and Talon made their way to the exit as well. Despite not being told I knew they would come back just as I knew I wasn't meant to be part of this family tradition. A small tug pulled at my waste. Jen, still hiding under my cloak. It was just the three of us in the room now. Dante, Jen, and I.

"This way." Dante said taking a few paces forward. His black tail swayed back and forth languidly. Knowing how fast dragons walked, I picked up Jen. Her tiny legs would be terribly sore and slow trying to travers a big place like this. Luckly we were already near the top of the mountain.

I roughly knew where we were going. The high lords quarters were at the top of the mountain, overlooking everyone and everything. The halls here were much more finely decorated than the halls at the base of the mountain. More tapestry blankets. The rugs were soft and plush under my feet. The air smelled fresher and the rooms more brightly lit. There was also more humans walking on the side of the halls. Servants bred and raised with the sole purpose of taking care of the mountains lords. I felt their eyes as they peeked at us with their periferal vision. I covered Jens head with my cloak as we passed them, I didn't want her looking at them or them at her.

It didn't feel that long ago when that  head maid Zin had done her best to put me in what she believed to be my place. Something akin to a bed slave for producing dragons and nothing els. These humans were different than the ones in town.

The humans that served at the top of the mountain believed they were born superior to other humans, that they deserved special perks and treatment because of the dragons they served. Jens existence would break their standard roles of life just as I had. Receiving special treatment, without being born or working here would cause them to hate her. The mountain is a dangerous place where a human could live and die at the claws of a reigning beast, but the humans were just as vicious.

I kept pace with him easily as I walked behind him down the middle of the hall. We climbed upward and came to some heavy doors ecrusted with glittering gems. It was very obvious who lived here. This place opened into a wide open expance, with many hallways branching off of it.
