The day came to early. The girls were still resting. I stretched in the bed and layed there for a moment more. I took the idividual hide i used as a blanket off and placed it on Pail. Before I left to pick up Gorza and Ortha, I stoked the fire, so the house would be warm. It would be a short trip, just there and back but I put a bucket of water by the fireplace to heat up for drinking and washing.
The air outside was crisp. I bundled well with my tail poking out and my hands and horns covered from habit. I checked on grandpa tree again, asleep as usual. He hybernates like a cave bear. I sped down the hill goping that it would go well.
The village was quiet. Orcs tucked quietly away in their houses. The path to Gorzas was easy enough to walk and i found myself hoping over her fence and arriving at her front door. I knocked on the door and waited patiently. There was no response I knocked three more times quickly and shifted my weight. Then i heard the ambling of heavy footsteps before Gorza opened the door. She looked confused.
"Bait, why fighting the wind blocker?" She asked.
"Im not fighting." I told her
"Wind blocker, not enemy. Bait does not break it." Gorza scolded me.
"Its polite to hit the door lightly before entering, so i dont interupt the people living there." I told her.
"Bait welcome here, walk in." She said before walking back into the house.
It occured to me that all the huts in the village had blankets covering the entrances or open door ways and they had sex out in the open so stumbling on a couple unaware wasnt an issue. There was no need to knock.
Ortha was wrapping her feet in leather and fur. They werent shoes in the since they were made for her feet. Orcs didnt wear shoes but it provided a layer of protection between her feet and the ice.
"Lets go to babes!" Ortha said grinning with booth small tusks exposed.
The return hike was much slower. The terrain was slippery. We stepped on the base of the trees and gripped their trunks to pull us up the slope. Rocks were avoided because of their smooth surface. I would climb a few steps and then wait for them telling them where to put their feet and grab with their hands. Gorza was not pleased by my comments.
"Gorza not elder yet!" She barked.
"Yes yes. Gorza is still in her prime just be carefull not to slip." I said with a grin. "Were nearly there see." I sa9d pinting at the smoke coming from the hut.
Gorza grunted pleased.
When they reached the top and had no chance of slipping i bounded ahead to get the girls. Pail was still sleep fortunatly. Carefully i put on their little outfits and wrapped them in hide bundles, where only their small faces were exposed. I further covered them with my cloak and carried one in each arm before I crept back out side. Just a short time outside is probably fine i thought before closing the door with my foot.
Gorza and Ortha had just made it to the area that I use as my yard. It was cleared enough to walk in, cook in, and butcher when i needed to. A fallen tree acted as my chair, not far from wear i planted grandpa tree. I sat in the middle so that their would be space on both sides for Gorza and Ortha to see the girls.
"Come see, they're still sleeping." I said in a low tone.
The two sat close to me looking at the little ones cradled on my lap.
"Little noses!" Ortha exclaimed.
"Not sick?" Gorza asked concerned.
I shook my head no.
"Feed them more. Fat babes best." She assured me.
Ortha nodded in agreement. "Bait small, baits babes very small."
"They have little wings and tails to." I told her. The bigger one is Aelia and the smaller one is Idelia.
"Alla and Eye-dalla" Gora pronounced incorrectly.
They explained complicated emotions and even big words but when it came to names they seemed to have a blank spot. Especially when it was a name they werent accustomed to but they were a group that tended to have names that short and strong. No doubt they would have new nick names for them in no time at all.
"Difficult." Ortha thought.
"Doesnt shout well"
"I will think on it." Gorza nodded.
I shook my head chuckling to myself, it had already begun. These aunts would definitely dote on the girls in the future but also call them something silly.
Aelia yawned a big mouthed yawn, making a cute sound. Her little eyes began to flutter.
"Oh i think she might wake up for the visit." I said aloud. "Hey baby do you want to meet these aunties?"
Her eyes opened lazily. She was entirely to cute. The sunlight glittered on her light hair that poked out, coupled with her light skin made her look like a little snow spirit.
The temperature seemed to drop around me and i felt my hair stand up on the back of my neck. I looked up to find Gorza and Ortha jumping away from me.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Red eye." Ortha said with a pained expression.
"You must get rid of it." Gorza said in agreement.
"Its not what you think." I tried to explain. "Shes not a Red Eye."
"Scratched by Red Eye when pregnang." Ortha said to Gorza.
"Mhm babe must have been changed." Gorza responded.
"Your not listening." I said getting to my feet. "There father had red eyes, its natural for them to be born with a similiar color."
"Fathered by a Red Eye?" Gorza said outraged.
Ortha grabbed her chest and cried out. "Babe Bait!"
"Baits babe abomination." Gorza nodded solmnly.
"No.no.no. just because he had red colored eyes does not mean that he was a Red Eye." I explained.
"They wont hurt anyone! Theres nothing wrong with them!" I nearly shouted.
At that moment the door to the hut opened.
