The next day was easier but still achey. Places that I didn't even think of as being attached to my back hurt, i felt them when I walked. I hobbled around walking along the wall for support. Behind me trailed an entourage of my kids, a nervous healer, and a few maids that still hadn't spoken in my presence. It probably didnt help that i had told the girls to bite them if they try anything.

Honestly, I wanted to soak in a bath but the human healer had already reported that it would be harmful to submerge the wound. To be honest i doubt he knows what hes talking about. In the night he had originally thought I had contracted an infection in my back and said it should be cut open and drained. When my wings came out from the cut, they all but tossed him out. If he wasnt usefull for caring for the staff i think they would have killed him.

When he came back the next day for a check up, i had told him to recommend time outside in the sun. I guess saying I told him would be a nice way of putting it, even in my delicate state I could still be imposing. It wasnt as if i hated him, i just didn't especially care for having another person try to dictate my life for any reason and going outside was important for my next goal.

The backless clothes were actually servicable now. Anything that even came close to touching my back made me want to crawl out of my own skin.
There was a part of me that wanted to crawl back into the darkest part of my room and sleep till I felt better but this task had to be started as soon as possible.

There was another reason i was running my hand along the wall, other than support. Each time I saw a wall hanging I got excited, only to find that my hand pressed against a solid surface of rock behind the hanging. No gaps. Its begining to look like i wont be able to move around behind the walls like I had on the lower floors.

The outside area was not in the high lords quarters. It was about half way down the mountain. Vee had taken his first walk outside here. The grounds were flat in an unnatural way and inclosed on three sides. You could go to the edge of the feild and look down over the side and see the city at the base spread out befor you. The temperature was neither to hot or to cold. Even when it had been the middle of winter when snow fell outside this place remained untouched. Sheltered by an invisible barrier.

There were a few ornamental trees with brightly colored leaves of different colors. Plants that bloomed in a rainbow of colors. Soft grass that smelled sweet. This was the perfect place. I told the rest of our troop to stay by the entrance and took my kids out to play. When we were far enough from listening ears I bent down slowly. Wobbling a little to keep my balance.

"Vee. Theres someone I want to introduce you to." I said reaching for the seed I had hid under my breast. I held the seed in my hand.

"A leaf?"

"A family member." I laughed. "He may not look like much now but give him time."

Vee looked at me like I was crazy.

"Jen the bowl." I told her. Jen held a bowl in her hands the bloddied water had been mostly soaked in with fabric from the soiled dress. Things i had kept from the night before.

"Vee will you help mom bury a seed?" I asked him.

"Ok." He shrugged.

He dug a whole larger than he needed to but it was fine. Jen poured in the contents of the bowl and I dropped the seed on top. The girls then helped to bury it.

"In maybe a month or two, A grandpa will sprout up and later on when he gets bigger he'll be able to speak."

"The leaf?" Vee asked.

"Mmhm. He knows alot im sure you will get along well with him." I told him.

"I dont like it." He grimaced.
