97.) The Call of the Sea

The twins were chasing Vee around and swatting at him. He, being the good brother he was, tried to dodge their flurry of attacks without retaliating. He was faster than them but not immune to their team work. They whiped and dodged through the crowd and over. Knocking over items and bumbing into family members as they went.

I schreeched out a high pitched, ah.
It was short and clipped but it got their attention. Idelia was wrapped around an arm and Aelia was trying to hold on to Vees tail. She was being dragged behind trying to hold him in place. Jen however had not been fast enough to catch them and ended up hurtling into the three, unable to slow her speed and all four toppled to the ground in a heap.

"What are you doing?" I asked in disbelief.

"Vee started it!" Aelia immediately shouted.

"Dame! Shes lying!" Vee defended.

"Not!" Idelia interjected.

Jen had got to her feet and without cleaning herself up began to try and pull idelia off of Vees arm where she was still attached.

"Come on Delly, let go of him." She urged Idelia but she was refusing gritting her sharp little teeth.

I stomped over trying to squeeze around people and items that littered the floor. When i got to them, I picked all of them up at once and dragged them off to the side.

"Hey auntie, looks like you got your hands full!" Bramble yelled out. The sound of another swat echoed out.

"What are you four doing this time? Causing a ruckus this early?" I asked them.

They all looked away as if they thought by not looking at me that they wouldnt have to answer.

"Really none of you have anything to say?" I asked in disbelief?

They shook their heads wordlessly. Even Jen who i thought would cave first didnt say a word. I didnt know if it was a good or bad thing.

"I dont know whats got into you but this is your only warning. Non of you can be fighting in here. These people are your family but even though they might have some dragon like traits that doesnt mean they will all be able to heal fast if you hurt them when your getting caried away." I explained to them. I knew Vee and Jen understood, not that she was ever the one to start a fight, but i wasnt sure if Idelia and Aelia got the message by the way they looked at eachother.

Out of the corner of my eye i saw that Vee had been holding something behind his back. A book.

"Is this what you guys were fighting over?" I said reaching for it.

"Your not going to give it to them right? Its mine i found it first." He claimed.

"Found it?" I asked. This hadnt been the first time I had seen Vee with this book. "Where did you 'find it'" i asked?

"In uncles.. I mean grandsires study." He corrected himself.

"Did he give it to you, or did you take it." I asked sqauting down.

"He wasnt using it..." Vee tried to excuse himself.

"Vee we dont steal, especially not from family." I told him patiently.

The book was pretty thick and worn. When i opened it, i found the scrawled hand writting of a dragon along with drawing of creatures. Small notes beside them. Since i had lessons with Dante i could at least sound out the words to understand the meaning but wasnt proficient in reading. The first drawing was of the Sirenaide. Diagrams of a small fish becoming larger and changing untill it was a sirenaide. With another picture of a pearl on the page. Scralled writting fanned out between them. I turned a page tree spirits. I turned a page short stubby people with thick beareds. I turned another page. Dragons of different clans with crystals beside them.
