"Its ready Rowan, come quickly you will be first." Pyros said not looking away from the stone.
I stepped around the green crystals that grew on the floor and made my way forward. I looked back once to see my family there. There presence was reassuring. Pyros pulled my hand forward and pressed it to the stone.
"Do you feel the majesty contained within?" He asked. "This is a true being." He said enamored. "This is but a fragment of the whole."
I tilted my head looking at it. The rocks surface felt warm. I felt a heart beat inside. A gentle thumping rythm bounded under my fingers but i could mostly see through it. There were no organs inside. It wasnt a creature of flesh and blood but for i knew that it had feelings because i felt it. Knew it. it didnt seem...right
"This is the heart of the mountain?" I asked.
"Yes, its also refered to as the mountain tome, the great book, and a few other names. With its power the dragons that rule the green mountain gained extraordinary abilities. Its the energy that powers the lights, locks doors, heats and moves the water, all at the bidding of the sitting high lord and his kin. Of course those are just parlor tricks compared to its true abilities." Pyros explained.
"And you want me to sign it?" I asked.
"You are of my blood, and you deserve all the protections and privileges that are due to my offspring." He assured me. "I'll help you he said."
Pyros took one clawed finger and sliced my finger, blood pooled at the cut like beads on a string. He pressed my finger back to the stone and wrote my name swiftly.
} ° , • . Rowan.
The swigles and dots absorbed into the surface and disapeared. One moment the surface was like glass but then i could see other scralled names moving about inside the stone. They moved in lines connecting and weaving like strings on a net. The name i added swam freely unconnected to any line. it drifted for a moment then started wriggling. Itching. With a swift motion pyros cut his own finger and drew a line from his name to the top of mine.
It then moved in a line with his, swimming behind it on a teathered string. But it still twitched uneasily.
Pyros grabbed my still bleeding finger and drew a line from my beneath my name to intercept a spot ahead of three other names.
"There. Thats better."
The lines rearranged themselves.

Pyros broke of a green crystal that grew from the wall it was the size of my smallest finger.
"Now eat this." He said placing it in my hand. "The rest of you form a line, there isnt much time."
One after another, each of my family members were added amd attached untill the line coming from pyros stretched and wiggled in a wide line partially drifting around the stone as it squirmed.
I put the crystal in my mouth but instead of biting down on a flakey crunchy material like i had expected, it practically dissolved in my mouth. My tounge felt like it was coated in a syrupy substance even after swallowing several times.
I felt no different. I touched my horns and ears and tail but they were all the same. I guess i expected another change after that but i was the same. Maybe this is as much as i can change, i thought.
Excessively close.
They were never big huggers, my family. Maybe my dad was but thats how he was raised. When i moved they moved. Brothers, sisters they stayed close not just to me but to eachother. If they werent standing next to me a hand was outstretched to touch my shoulder or head. I missed them to but this behavior was just off.
I couldnt help but realise that most the face i saw were either my siblings or their kids. A few inlaws that were around since before i was born but there were definitly people missing. Laurels bond River made it but Oak and Cedars bonds did not.
My neices and nephews went last, after their parents. In their mouths they swished the liquified stone from cheak to cheak like a game.
A shaking came from the mountain but it felt as if it was rippling down instead of moving up. This caused Pyros to move even faster, hokding fingers, signing names, and dolling out rocks.
A door burst open on the far side of the room. One i didnt even know was there because it looked like the same rock as the rest of the room.
"PYROS! I feel you there! What have you done!" The high lord berated as he stomped toward us. His clothes were ripped and covered in both red and green liquid.
"Brother. Your just in time." Pyros said with a grin. "You can be the first to greet my offspring."
The highlord looked around the room. Taking in the group of hybrid family members clustered there.
"You didnt..." he said in disbelief.
"Oh i absolutely did." Pyros said gesturing to the stone. "All of my offspring are now full fledged members of the mountain. But most importantly you cant send off or sell any of them to other clans. Their direct members of our noble family after all."
