I was under the crystal clear water. Some plants doted the space but I could see clearly the blue face above me. He tried to hold me under while i struggled against his hold. He pinned my wrist to my chest and held me under. It only took a second for my lungs to acclimate and gills to open.

From the flurry of activity above me I could tell that above the waters surface was pure chaos. When the initial shock of being dragged into the water subsided I felt more clear headed. Now that i could breath I didnt struggle nearly as hard to free myself from Tamboras grasp. Scaled legs and arms rushed forward and grabbed on to Tamboras blue ones. The voices tones were urgent above me. There was a screaching of words that I couldn't decifer through the water but they seemed upset about the situation.

A female hand who i could only expect to be Kanyon was furiously scratching at the arm holding me under. A sound like a thunderous wave rolled through the water as a large body waded through to us. I bobbed up and down with the unnatural current. Brown hands reached down from above, grabbing me by the shoulders and hauling me upwards. I landed on the pools rocky edge. My dress soping wet and the water trickling off my hair.

I gasped once swallowing hard since it took a moment for the gills to close and my lungs to reacclimate to oxygen. There was a continued flurry of activity and shouting. The smell of the air was giving me a headache along with hunger and the chaos. Standing up i tried to ring out my skirt but it didn't help much.

I barely noticed Talon looking me over. Wasnt this partially his fault for pushing me forward. I batted his hand away as he was trying to check my arm.

"You nearly drowned it." Mendhi said from his place near the entrance. His body was grey and blended in with the rock behind him.

"She lacks proper training. I was only punishing her poor behavior." Tambora said casually.

"She isn't your property to train. You cant even control your anger." Kanyon seethed.

"Did you forget that your no longer a resident of Green Mountain. What place do you have to speak on this?" Tambora questioned her.

"You made it my business when you nearly broke the only chance my nephews have at hatchlings." She striked back.

"Maybe you should be concerned about your own lack of hatchlings before you look after others." He argued.

There was silence. Tangible and alive.

Even I who didnt grow up in this culture, knew that was a topic you didnt bring up. To a female it was the highest of insults.

"Ill have a doctor check her out." Talon murmered. He picked me up again and turned to leave. It was an over the shoudler carry but maybe i should be releaved that he didnt hold me under his armpit and carry me like a log.

He walked quickly away from the shouting. If i had been young and naive i might have thought it was out of care for my well being but i wasnt young and naive. He moved like a man who didnt want to be caught in the crossfire bumping me up and down with hurried foot steps.

When we were a couple levels down he dropped me on to the floor. Wiping the water off his skin with dramatic movements.

"You have a nack for causing pandemonium human." He remarked.

"Its a gift." I retorted.

"He wont let you off easy this time." He warned.

"I cant do anything about that now." I replied with a shrug.

"Find your way back, if im seen with you i might be taking a portion of your punishment by association." He said walking away.

If thats the case i should just follow him around, i thought.

Wet feet padded against the floor. I left a trail of droplets and damp carpet fell behind me. Maybe the bastard would take my legs for this act or id be locked up some place without seeing my children. I rubbed the back of my kneck. Regret was filling me up. Why couldnt i just put up with it? I didn't mean to snap like that, i just couldnt stop myself before it happened. There was no since beating myself up over it but i still felt lousy. I said carefree words to Talon but on the inside I was a rolling mess.
I pushed open the door to my room to find my kids lounging around the living space.

"Why are you all wet?" My human daughter Jen asked.

"Slipped while running by the water." I said making up a story.

"What were you running from?" Vee asked.

"Whos hungry?" I said changing the subject.

"Why is your arm bruised?" Jen asked.
Vee took notice after she said it, I also looked down. A purple bruise in the shape of a hand blossomed on my tight wrist. Jen was very perseptive when it came to other peoples feelings. Vee looked at my arm in disbelief. Shaking his head a couple times before looking down.

"Im sorry." Vee said.

"You dont have anything to be sorry. Gor Vee." I assured him

"I told you no one would hurt you but you came back hurt." He said woefully.

"Look at me." I said kneeling down to be eye level with him."None of the bad is because of you." I shook my head. "You kids are the light of my life."

Vee merely nodded without looking at me. He leaned in to hug me with his eyes still cast down.

"Dont worry Dame, Ill protect you." he said patting my back.
