Chapter 14: He's Back and Ready To Strike!

§He's Back and Ready to Strike!§

Its been a few weeks since the mall incident. I had fallen apart. All the walls I had built up to keep the emotions from flowing, broke and I was like Niagara Falls. Jessi has been there to help me through it, I just feel bad for Ashton. He has no idea what's happening and every time he tried to help, he somehow made it worse. I'm better now. I'm able to take care of myself.

"Heeeyyy!!!" Jessi bumps her hip into mine as we walk into physics. It was helpful that Jessi was suspended. She would come over everyday until I felt good enough to get out of bed and do something for the day. Some days I had the pride to go to school, others not so much.

"I know that dreamy voice and happy smile anywhere. Did you just come from a makeout session again?" Ricky and her have been getting along pretty well. He asked her to be his girlfriend about a week and a half ago and she's never been happier.

"Maaayyybeeee!" I roll my eyes and sit in my seat. Derek comes over and plops down next to me. He leans back in his chair and stretches his arms behind his head.

"Hey sweetcheeks." He smirks at the nickname he gave me. I've told him over and over to stop calling me it, but he refuses.

"Morning!" I chirp. For some reason I feel happy today.

"Ah! A morning person! I didn't think they existed."

"Well get used to it! We're gonna have to spend time together and in no way is it going to be my free time."

"Oh right! The project." He winks and Mrs.DeBrat walked through the doorway. This is going to be torture.

"So do you wanna hang out tonight?" Ashton asks as we walk hand in hand to his car.

"I can't I have to work on my stupid physics project, you know the one with the partner?"

"Oh. Yeah. I got some weirdo as my partner. You know Freaky Freddy?" He pulls out of the school parking lot and grabs my hand again.

"Yea. At least he'll do the work. My partner won't, he'll just try to annoy me the whole time. That pest."

"Who'd you get?"

"Derek." His grasp tightens and I squirm in pain, "Cole? Uhm...you're...tight...let go?"

He releases and comes out of his trance like state, "Hm?...Oh sorry cupcake. I uh...I just was thinking."

"Yea, okay. Uhm...so tomorrow? I'm free."

"Me too." He grins and kisses my cheek before I hop out of the car and wave goodbye.

Cole: So bored. Are You sure I can't come over?

Me: I'm positive. No matter how much I want and need your arms around me, I have to get this project done. We're not even close.

Cole: Arg! Didn't you start like 2 hours ago? I can't stand the torture of you being alone with him.

Me: Don't worry. I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself.

Cole: I know, but I like it better when I do it.

I smile and put down my phone.
"I'm gonna go get some snacks. Uhm... Just start the research. You like popcorn right?" Derek nods and I head downstairs. The doorbell rings so I answer it. Jessi.

"Uh Jes-"

"I. Need. To. Talk. To. You. URGENT!" I motion her in and sit her on my couch. She calms down a little before speaking, "Kai is back in town. And he came looking for me. Well he came to my house and saw the unfamiliar car in the driveway because Ricky was over. Well he just walked in the house like he lived there. When he saw Ricky and I well he flipped. He said that I shouldn't have done that and that I would pay. I'm scared. I don't know what to do. I don't want to break up with Ricky, but it's the only way right now."

"Oh my God! Kai's back?! How did he even..." Now I know what your thinking. Jessi be scared of a person, of anything for that matter. Well Kai is different. Let me explain....

Kai was new in town. He was the nerd, everyone picked on him. He was scrawny, puny, and a total geek. Even though Karla and Jessi disagreed, Jack and I invited him into our group. Everyone deserves a chance at friend's right? Well that could most likely be the worst thing we've ever done. He was bullied, but he would never fight back. We helped him through it, built him up. We gave him a make over, he got his braces removed, his skin cleared up, new wardrobe, a haircut with styling gel, and Jack took him to the gym to muscle up. He was a new person. Immediately everyone wanted to be his friend, but he had his eye on someone else. Jessi. He tried and tried and eventually she fell for his charm. They dated all throughout middle school, but he held a grudge. He wanted to get back at his bullies. We tried to talk him out of it, but he held his mind to it. Whoever got in his way would pay however. Jessi got the worse of it. She would always try her hardest to stop him, but whenever she would try to stop him he would beat her. She could handle it, but it just kept getting worse. She eventually told us and her parents. He was thrown into Juvie. We haven't seen him since the summer before freshman year.

~*~So what do ya think of Kai? Do you hate him? Yeaaahhhh.....just wait. But he is kinda cute. *sigh* Chad Michael Murray. Does anyone remember him from "A Cinderella Story" Yeah.....
