§Ricky's True Colors?§
I drive to the park and sit on a bench, constantly checking my phone and surroundings.
Kai: I'm at the park where are you?
Maggie: On a bench, are you sure meeting at an open area is a good idea?
"Yes I do..." Kai comes and sits next to me, "That way I have witnesses if one of your many new friends try to hurt me."
"They mean well. They just don't trust you."
"So why do you? God. You always see the good in everybody. Sometimes there isn't any."
"What are you even trying to say?"
Kai lets out an exasperated sigh, "I'm trying to say that Ricky isn't good."
"Are you only saying that because you want Jessi all to yourself?"
"No! When I went into Juvie. Ricky was just getting out of it..."
"That's not true. He told everyone that he went on a family vacation to France."
"Well looks like he's lied about that too. Anyways, as I was saying... I snooped around and found out that he was in there for...."
~RING RING RING~
I pick up my phone and answer it, "Hello?"
"Hey babe. What're you doing?"
"Uhhh... Just laying on my couch, you know chillin."
"Okay... Do you wanna do something with me?"
"I c-cant I'm busy."
"On your couch, chillin? Really? If you didn't want to spend time with me you could have just told me..."
"No no no! I uh would love too, I just can't at this exact moment..."
"How 'bout in an hour? I'm out of town and it takes me about that long to get to your house."
"Yea, sounds wonderful. See you then." I hang up and turn to face Kai, "You were saying?"
"He was in there for driving stolen cars under the influence of drugs."
I open my mouth and close it repeating it over and over like a fish. Drugs?! Stolen car?! What is his problem?! Who would do something that stupid and reckless?!
"What? Why?" Those were the only questions going through my mind that I could form into sentences that wouldn't be jumbled words.
"I don't know. All I know is that he's bad news and she shouldn't be around him. Its unsafe."
"And you would be any better? Last time I checked, you were an alchoholic that held grudges."
"I'm better now. A changed person. I went to therapy and it really helped me. I know what I did was wrong, and I wish I could take it back. I love Jessi and I want- no NEED another chance with her."
"Wait you love her?! Awe. That's so cute! How are we gonna get her to break up with him and give you another chance though?"
We talked on the bench for the next half hour until I decided I needed to go home so I could arrive before Ashton.
"If you ever need anything, just call me. Okay? I'll be there as soon as I can."
Kai nods his head and turns to leave. I walk to my car and drive home. After pulling in, I unlock my front door and walk up the stairs to my room. As I sit on my bed, I look over at my window to see Derek laying on his bed tossing a baseball up and down while on his back, staring up at the ceiling. He looked deep in thought so I took the chance to actually look him over. He had those deep brown eyes. Ones that if he ever tried to persuade me with the puppy dog face, I would immediately give in. He had nice muscles, his hair was always either quiffed or thrown out of his face in a way that looked nice and sloppy at the same time, his face was clear, his lips looked plump and soft, and his abs looked totally delicious. While I was day dreaming about how hard his abs could be, I didn't notice him get up and walk toward the window.
