Escape

"FIRE"

The words echoed in the room. Everyone froze for a moment and then started to run towards the door. Liu Zhan took his position in front of me as I felt two more agents sneak closer to me.

"Stay close to me." He ordered me over his shoulder. I nodded. All the mob that was rushing towards the door was making it difficult for anyone to pass through it. Still I didn't get pushed around at all. The agents were standing around me like pillars which were impossible to break.

My thoughts didn't linger on it for long when the thick smoke started to spread in the room. The fire detectors sprinkled water causing us all to get soaked. Still that didn't make anyone stop their  efforts to run. Everyone was in panic.

Liu Zhan scanned the surroundings. The hallways had large glass windows. He paused as his eyes widened.

"Get down." He shouted. We all obliged. I felt someone fall on me. Suddenly the windows blew up. The flames of fire scorching hot were now creeping into the hallway. Liu Zhan shielded me with his body. When he was sure that there won't be anymore scattering of glass he pulled me up with him and rushed to...W&C...?

I looked at him puzzled.
"This is a secret emergency exit." He spoke as he went into the room. On the opposite side there was indeed a door.

"This is a safe route out." He spoke hurriedly.
Just then I had an idea.
"Why don't we help others through it?" I pointed to the people running terrified.

They didn't react to it at all.
"Don't worry about them they will be fine. You won't." His words made me uneasy. The door opened into a staircase. I was amazed. These guys really go beyond the limits.

Liu Zhan ran ahead of us through the stairway. We followed after him. Soon we reached the end of it. An agent opened another door for us. Liu Zhan entered it first.

"Son of a bi*ch" he cursed loudly. I was standing on the other side of the door so I have no idea what made him curse though I really hope he had just tripped or something like that.

Hearing him curse the remaining two agents with me pulled out their guns aiming ahead. They exchanged looks debating whether to open the door or not.

They had not yet even reached to a conclusion when a voice echoed.
"So you are the one who is making our work difficult eh?"
This is a new voice I haven't heard before. It didn't take me long to guess who could it belong to. Liu Zhan didn't answer him. I felt him reach the door back and lock it from outside. The click of knob confirmed my suspicions.

We have been had.

"Now be a good boy and hand him over to us." That voice demanded. I didn't even need to guess who he was talking about.

"Nope." Liu Zhan tossed carelessly. Even without seeing anything I can feel the atmosphere getting tensed.

"Then die!" He shouted. I took a step to open the door and see what is going on but one of the agents stopped me pulling my elbow. He shook his head at me. I can't believe him.

"He is alone there." I whisper yelled at him. Liu Zhan is fighting one against many he was not even prepared and now he is putting his life on line to save me while I stand here watching. No way. Even though I don't like the guy I don't want him to get hurt or worse be killed... because of me.

"He can handle it. Besides we have called for back-up."

I was still not relieved. Who knows when will the back-up arrive. My patience is running out with the increasing noise from other side of the door. I could hear punches, things breaking, clanks and curses.

Getting impatient I asked, "Has the back-up arrived."

"Oh it did." The answer came from a distance. I automatically turned my head to see the source of the voice, not that I had to see to know who it belongs to, the way my heart skipped a beat was enough to know it belonged to Annie. My eyes met her and I smiled. My rebellious girl.

She walked down the stairs leisurely, her cheeks flushed with heat and sweat formed on her forehead. It reminded me of the time when I first saw her.

~Flashback~

It was a busy day for us. We all have been practicing hard for our next album and Sehun sprained his ankle. So now we all are waiting for the doctor. Watching him in pain everyone was getting impatient. I could not take it anymore and decided to check if someone arrived or not. Just then the knob that I held in my hand twisted and the door opened revealing a girl.

My eyes fell first on her hair. The colour of night loosely pulled into a bun. She has perfectly round face and pale skin. It was not the kind of pale that makes you look dead it was the kind that makes you want to touch it. A perfect fine nose. Looking down I noticed her lips. Oh the lips were like petals of roses, red and plump.

But what knocked me off my feet were those mesmerizing pair of eyes. They were the color of ocean-wild and reckless accompanied by long eyelashes. Eyebrows a perfect arch. Few drops of sweat were tinkling down her temples. She must have ran all the way here. It was when she looked at me that my breath stopped.

Her gaze was so innocent yet so piercing. It was like she looked through me, saw all my secrets. Feeling exposed I took an involuntary step back and composing myself I asked.

"Who are you?"
She blinked a few times before speaking.
"I am Doctor Vanessa Cross."

And since that moment I knew this girl is going to be my fall.

"Are you okay?" Her voice brought me back to present. I nodded.
"I am but I don't know about him." I said pointing towards the shut door.

"He is enjoying himself don't worry." She wasn't even concerned at all. I was confused. Isn't he fighting against all those bad guys alone. No matter how good he is he is not invincible.

Seeing my expressions she spoke again.
"He is not alone. Others have joined him."

Oh.

"Then that's...good."
She raised her eyebrows at me. I looked back at her in question and she shook her head.

We kept waiting for couple of minutes. None of us made a move though Annie would whisper something to other two agents from time to time. They would discuss and then whisper back into their earpieces. I didn't bother them giving them some privacy.

Soon the door opened revealing Liu Zhan. His face had bruises and his lip was bleeding so was his eyebrow. Hair disheveled. The black attire was ripped in few places. He was holding a gun in his hand and the knob in other.

As soon as his eyes landed on her he scowled.
"What are you doing here?"
She bit her lip sheepishly.
"My job...?"
"I believe we agreed you won't leave the house."
He stated.
"Well I could not let you have all the fun." She confessed. I smiled.
"Why am I not surprised." He sighed.

Then he found me. He looked as if he wanted to say something but he didn't. I furrowed my brows.
"It's safe now."
He announced signalling us to follow him.
