Betrayal

With that she tried to get rid of all the evidences of what happened between us. I observed her silently. While she deliberately avoided my gaze.

When she was done I asked her calmly.

"Are you just going to walk away without explaining anything?"

She tensed for few seconds then without turning back she answered.

"It was a mistake. Forget it happened."

That's it. I have had enough.
I pulled her hand forcing her body against mine tightly. She struggled but there is no way I am going to let her go. We are face to face only inches apart.

"You think you can say a few words and end us? There is no end Annie."

"We have ended five years ago." She spit out.

I growled.

"No we haven't. I never moved on from you and you still love me. Can't you see Annie what we had is still binding us."

She shook her head. Still refusing.

"You don't love me, you never did. Not even for a second." She spoke as if in a trance. As if she is convincing herself.

I tipped her head up forcing her to look in my eyes.

"I do. I love you more than my life and I need you more than my next breath. If you don't believe me then tell me what should I do to prove it. I'll even write it in blood if you want." I confessed opening my heart to her. Conveying my feelings through my eyes. But suddenly she has gone blind.

"Why now?" She asked. I hesitated before answering. I had expected her to believe everything and fall into my arms, no questions asked.

"I know how my life is without you and I can't bear it. I want you back." I reasoned.

She hesitated.

"You love me?" She asked.
"Without a doubt."
"Too bad because I don't."
Her words twisted the sound of my voice. I flinched. My hold on her loosened.

"You are one cruel woman, do you want to break my heart?" Because if she does I will gladly offer it on a plate.

She inhaled sharply.

"You broke me first." Tears ran down her cheeks, "I loved you and what you did? You cheated on me. People don't cheat on the person they love, they cheat on the person they were using. And now you are standing here telling me I am cruel. Just my words broke you then imagine what your actions had done to me."

Her chest rose and fell with her heavy breathing. She is holding back her anger.
I had nothing to say to her on this. I have made the greatest mistake of my life. She didn't know how much I hated myself for it. If I could go back in time I will give up anything to change that. But it's too late. The only thing I can do now is to hold on the last hope I have.

"I made a mistake and I hate myself for that, alot. You can punish me however you want I won't refuse. But Annie give me another chance."

She looked at me tired. All of a sudden she looked years older. Her eyes travelled in another time dealing with other memories.

"How can I trust you with my heart again? Why should I?" She asked me defeated.

"Because you still want me. I was inside your soul. I tasted you. This is the truth you can't escape."

"Maybe I do but I won't repeat the same mistake twice. I won't allow another weakness to destroy me. I have been shattered enough already."

My God just what have I done? I have broken the girl I loved beyond repair. It's not that she didn't love me it was that she was scared of loving me. She was scared to have her heart broken again. All in all she was afraid to live.
