< "I didn't walk away. I could never walk away from you. You let me go." >

"I hate working here." Avalon groaned and I smirked as I cleaned the greasy equipment. "I honestly don't know why you're here either," I replied as I kept cleaning.

"Is it because I'm blonde? Is that it?" She asked as she held onto some of her hair. "You're a blonde actress. It's not the strangest thing I've seen but it's definitely on the list," I answered as I tucked my hair behind my ear.

"So what? I'm pretty and I work at a repair shop. Don't boys like girls that are into that stuff?" She asked and I shrugged as I put the clean equipment on the shelf. "You're pretty too. Why is my presence so shocking?"

I snorted in response. "That's cute, Ava."

"Oh come on! Stop hating on yourself. It's draining tryna show you up. Do you know how many guys have walked in here and shown obvious interest in you?" She asked in disbelief and I paused and turned to look at her.

My fast movement pulled my front hairs loose from behind my ears and they rested on both sides of my face. "Stop that. I have no idea what you're talking about." I answered as I pointed to her before turning back around.

"What about Giovanni Russo?"

I stilled slightly at the sound of the name that hasn't been able to leave my mind. It's a really pretty name.

"What about him?" I asked uncertainly as I cleared my throat. "Oh give me a break, Ri. You know he's interested in you." Ava grumbled as she joined my side and took the spanners from my hands.

I didn't respond and let her finish the job as I rested my elbows on the shop counter. "I mean he's attractive, he came all the way here just to tell you there's nothing wrong with his car, and he's been here about 4 times since then. He wanted to meet you." She urged and I rolled my eyes at her absurd accusation.

I heard footsteps and my eyes glanced upwards. There he was. He strolled casually to the front desk and I straightened myself up and smiled.

"He looks really familiar you know. I feel like maybe he went to the same high school as us. But obviously he wasn't hot then so we probably never noticed hi-"

"Hi, Gio. How can I help you today?" I said loudly with a forced smile as he smirked and found amusement in Avalon's ramble about him.

"Shit!" She cursed as she dropped whatever she was holding on the floor and I cringed and closed my eyes as the clattering echoed the shop. "Sorry," She apologised with a half laugh and I squeezed my eyes shut as a smile lingered on my lips.

I gained composure and almost forgot he was standing there as I slowly opened my eyes and caught him staring at me.

Avalon crawled up to the side of my leg as she picked up what she dropped but struggled with her acrylic nails. "My car won't start." He began and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"Bullshit." Avalon said quietly as she cleared her throat and I kicked her side. "Ow! Bitch." She muttered as I held eye contact with him.
