< "No matter how bad your heart is broken, the world doesn't stop for your pain. It keeps on spinning...without you." >

"And then what happened?"

Genevieve gave me a comforting look before looking back at the screen. "He started yelling a lot, but eventually he left." Gen finished and Avalon sighed through the laptop.

"Ri? You haven't said anything."

I lifted my chin from the crook of my arms pushed my legs tighter to my chest. "There's nothing to say." I mumbled.

Why does he want to talk to me? What could he possibly say that would be worth marching into my house and demanding to see me?

"So you don't care? Like at all?"

I focused back on Avalon as I processed her question. "No. I don't care."

I got up from the couch and walked into my room. My phone vibrated on my desk and I picked it up as I climbed underneath my comforter.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Riley. Hey."

I moved my phone away from my ear in confusion and the screen lit up showing his name. "Nolan, what's up?"

"I umm, heard the news."

He stumbled over his words and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I tried to figure out what he could be talking about. "You and Gio? It being over between you guys?"

My mouth opened slightly in shock and I didn't know how to respond. "You still there?" He called and I blinked multiple times. "I-Yeah, I'm still here." I responded as I immediately started biting my fingernails.

"I know how much you liked him and I honestly thought he wasn't good for you. If you need anything I'm here but you should definitely stay away from him-"

I frowned again as his words registered in my head. What the hell is he talking about?

"I'm sorry, what are you talking about?"

"Oh. I was just talking about you and-"

"How did you even find out in the first place?"

I don't know why I became so harsh. It's kind of like instinct now.

"Riley, I-"

"No. You just came back into my life. I don't want to talk about how bad of a person Gio was. That's not your place to say."

I've had a lot of people question my relationship with Gio in the past that it became second nature for me to defend him in anything and everything.

"I gotta go." I said quickly and I hung up the phone.

"Well this is awkward." Genevieve pointed out as she took another sip of her drink. Ava, Gen and I watched from the other side of the room as Theo, Gio, and some of their other friends sat at the bar.

"What's Theo doing with them?" Ava asked and slight disgust was laced in her tone. "I have no idea," Gen muttered. After I filled her in on what went down at the pizza shop, Ava's grown to hate Gio.
