Asher:

**A few days later**

"Mom... can I ask you something?" I ask slyly as I got a glass of tea.

"Yes, what is it sweetie?" She asks while she gets the strainer out of the dishwasher.

I put the pitcher back in the fridge then closed the door. "You know how I'll be eighteen, like, in a month, right?" I ask before taking a sip.

She nodded her head, getting the noodles from the cabinet. "You're getting so old." She answered jokingly.

I scratch the back of my head. "Well... like, I'd be an adult, legally I mean, and I could make my own decisions, like big decisions... right?"

She looked over at me while she was stirring. "Where are you going with this Asher?"

I nervously look into my cup. "Um... so, let's just say, that someone might have, maybe, possibly... um, asked me to, um, m-marry them, and since I'm practically an adult I could answer that question right?" I didn't look up, I didn't want to see her reaction.

"Well sweetie I would have to say... OH MY GOSH WHO?!" I had never heard my mom sequel so high in my whole life, and frankly it scared me so much more than her yelling at me.

I looked up at her to see the biggest grin on my mom's face. She looked as though she was about to explode with happiness. Not what I was expecting at all.

**Same day**

I finished packing the rest of my stuff that I wanted to keep. After I tell my dad I don't know what's going to happen, so it is best to be prepared.

After shoving the bag out my window and into the bushes, I make my way to the door of my dad's bedroom. Taking a deep breath, I knock on the door. He answers quickly telling me to come in. I brace myself before walking in.

Dad was sitting at his desk with several papers spread out in front of him. He spin around and glares at me. "This better be very important I am busy, so speak quickly." He growled.

"Well dad, it is actually very important. I am engaged to a dog." At this point dad had gotten up and was now standing before me. The fire in his eyes was so intense. "And sense I will marry him, I don't have to make money for you anymore, I will be an adult."

He punched me in the face and I fell to the floor. "You ungreatful little bastard!" I wiped the blood from the coroner of my mouth. He had already pulled out the whip from his hand by time I got to my feet. As he pulled his arm back to strike, I lunged at him and tackled him to the floor. "I wouldn't stand for this any longer dad!"
