"Well, we have our first victor. What an astonishing comeback by the young boy!" Crazy hand said to his partner.I stood on the platform, I waved at the camera, then at the crowd around me. People were chanting my name, screaming in joy. But that's not the important part...The important part is that, I...I did it. I proved Ness wrong and Toon Link right.
I continued my 360 degrees spin at the crowd around me, it made me even happier knowing that the two of them are watching. I was all blushed up and embarrassed, but I loved being out there.
About 30 seconds after the game ended, a platform was raised from below and led me to an exit, I walked onto the platform and eventually reached the exit, the cheering never stopped. I followed the hallway after leaving the platform, and eventually reached a double door, I pushed it open, and a bright room awaited me, and 30 hungry news reporters.
"Hey Mr. Villager?"
"Can I get you to sp-"
"I was here first, excuse me-"
"...could you please comm-"
"I only need one word from yo-"
"Give him some space!"
The reporters practically shoved the mice into my face, many of them pushed back by the security guards, which were some really strange-looking robot things(Subspace npcs). One by one, I answered the reporter's questions, each and every one of them. Some of them were eager, some of them were irritated, and some of them just looks like they absolutely hate their job. After dismissing the last one, I was finally free to go out of the room, and back into the grand lobby.
The lobby was empty, everyone was watching the fights, all but two boys, one in a blue jacket, the other in a green one. It was Ness and Toon Link. One of them bolted towards me as soon as he saw me.
"Villa! You smashed it!" Toon Link screamed while ramming into my arms, it kinda hurt, but I didn't mind. "You were so good! I just can't..."
"Thank you..." I said shyly. "Thank you, for believing in me."
"I knew you had it in you from the start! Hey, Ness wants to talk to you."
"..."
"..."
"Hey Villager," Ness said in a low tone, almost unwillingly. "Well...That was...amazing...What the hell..."
"You really think so?" I asked.
"Yes...I um, really do. So I don't know if you want an apology or not, but I'm sorry for saying those things to you that day. That was my fault. You didn't deserve anything I had said that day."
"You have nothing to apologize to me, I almost have to thank you! In a twisted way, your words encouraged me."
"Well, I'm...glad. Toon Link was right, you are a fighter, a brilliant one..."
Wow, after 30 days, I'm not even used to him not being a douchbag anymore.
"So are we all friends again?" Toon Link pulled all three of us together. Ness and I agreed on one thing, he was pulling way too hard.
"Never wasn't," I said. "You two are my childhood heroes."
"Stop, I'm not your hero, this wind bending twink pulling you is."
"Let me rephrase that, one of you is my hero. And one of you is...Ness." I corrected.
"That's better." We all laughed.
It was almost like my shyness evaporated into thin air.
"Hey! There are sooo many more matches today." Ness said giddily, I haven't heard him talk like this in a while. "Let's go up to our box and watch!"
"Box?" I asked. "What box."
"We have our private room," TL explained. "So others can't bother us. Not that any of them want to."
"Oh, and by the way, I'm starving, can we get some food? If there is any..."
"Sure." Toon Link said. "What? With all those sponsors, you think Nintendo can't afford food? Hell, we get the best foods in the world."
"Dude, just follow us. We got whatever you want up there, you want bbq chicken? We got you." Ness said while pulling both of us forward. "The steak is mine though, all 20 plates...If any one of you dares to touch it...I will empty the fridge...That includes the snack cabinet..."
After a bit of walking, going up elevators, and watching Ness failing swiping his keycard 10 times. We arrived, it was a cozy room, there was a bar stand, which we were probably not gonna use, a cooler with drinks in it, and a sofa in front of a huge glass window. We had a perfect view of the game.
"Ooh, the next match is Fox and Ganon. This is gonna be spicy. Who are y'all rooting for?" Ness asked us while we sat down on the sofa.
"Fox, fox all the way, F*** Ganon." TL said while picking up his grape soda and drinking it.
"Probably...Fox." I said. (I was gonna say Ganon to be funny but I didn't want to be against Toon Link)
"Oh and Villa, there's like, a billion different things on the bar stand , go get something for yourself." Toon Link reminded me.
"Oh, and there is a nice glass of water for you on the stand," Ness added.
I walked up to the bar stand and grabbed myself a good bucket of boiled broccoli with cheese poured over it. Even though I'm fine with cooking with meat and watching others eat them, I do prefer eating vegetables. After all, the idea of eating your neighbors is quite foreign to me. I then picked up the cup of water and drank the entire cup without a second thought, suddenly, I felt dizzy. In the corner of my eyes, I spotted two empty bottles of...Vodka?
"Guys? Why are there empty bottles here?" I said. Now realizing what I had drunk. "In hindsight...That...Didn't taste like water...But certainly not alchohol...what..."
"Oh, well," Ness said to me while smirking. "It was an experiment..."
"Experiment of what? Are you two trying to get me drunk?"
"Maybe," Ness said again while TL looked at me in a funny way. They definitely planned this.
"Guys, why would you two do..."
"Oh come and sit down, you'll be fine," Ness said. "We just wanted to see how you would react. You don't wanna miss the game!"
"Fine..." I said as I brought my broccolis and sat on the sofa. The match was red hot, Fox was up one stock currently. My head feels kinda weird...
For the next hour, I ate and watched. My two friends and I talked, chatted about the game, and argued over which color of grapes has the best flavor.
I've never had any true friends my age, therefore the feeling of just hanging out with your friends and watching what you love is quite new to me. But soon, I felt my head becoming very heavy, and eventually, I lost all consciousness.
It's the Vodka isn't it, I don't know why they didn't wake me up after I fell asleep, but the next time I opened my eyes, I wasn't in the box anymore.
I was back on my bed.
