"Time flies doesn't it? I remember just the times...Earth temple feels just like yesterday! It's so nice to fly with you again!" The boy in the green tunic said while ascending into the skies.
"Just like the old days!" Said Medli, while airborne with the two of us holding by her legs. "I can't lie...the two of you...are pretty heavy."
"Oh...sorry...I know this isn't what we did before..."
"But I've gotten stronger! Lifting 2 people is now quite simple for me...talking about 3 to 4 or even 5, little chicks, that's a challenge!"
We landed on a small platform, I hopped down first. My eyes looked down, land seemed like a spec of sand surrounded by endless blues. I looked up, a fiery glow radiated from above. Behind me, the two of them laughed and talked. Every time Link answered, every time the girl asked, sent a wave of discomfort into me. I wanted to join the conversation, but, I didn't know how to.
"How's little Makar? I don't think I will get to see him." Link said while flopping down onto a seat. "I miss your chairs."
"He's fine...We've been working on a couple of songs lately-"
"Who's that?" I asked, desperately inserting myself into the conversation.
"Oh...Sorry." The girl said. "You got a little left out...Link has a bunch of weird friends like me..."
"Oh come on...Makar is the little tree dude...the Korocks...Remember? The one that helped me regain the power of the master sword?"
"I don't! You never told me! how would I know?" My volume proceeded to increase beyond my control. After I finished, the two of them sat staring at me. "S-sorry...I didn't mean to scream..."
"Um...Well...I'll get some cookies and milk...I'll be uhhh...right back!" Said the girl, and she was out of the room.
...
...
"Toonie?"
"Villa what's going on?"
"What...I-I..."
"Why did you look at her like that...She told me earlier that you looked at her like you wanted to stab her..."
"What...N-no...Link, I just-just-"
The blonde held both of my arms and pulled me forth.
"I love you...But please stop acting like this...I'm your boyfriend! She's my best friend...Treat her like my best friend!"
...
"...Can I tell you something?"
"Yeah?"
"...I don't really like her! Alright? She's getting too close to you...She didn't look like she-"
...
"Link- I'm sorry! It's-"
"I can't believe this..." The blonde said while sinking into his chair. " Let me have fun with my friend! Villa...I don't wanna argue...Just, please...Stop...For Hylia's sake."
"Toonie-"
"Stop! I'm not talking about it anymore."
"I just-"
"Can you shut up! Just this once. You are cute, but you are so fricking weird sometimes...I had a life before you...I don't belong to you."
And like that, he turned the other way and sighed, refusing to speak another word. Tears of regret came from my eyes, but I was just able to wipe them away in time.
The girl came back with a tray of cookies and a pitcher of milk, she showed me a benign grin under her beaks and handed me a sugar-coated cookie. She then did the same with Link, who willingly took the cookie. When the girl gave him a penny for his thoughts, he giggled and turned back around, pretending that nothing had happened.
"Really, I'm fine...I always was fine...I'm just tired..."
"Tired from what? It's 10 in the morning you lazy moblin!"
"Last night was tiring...So! What do you wanna do next."
"Let's go around the volcano, inside and out, say hi to some folks that want to see you."
"Sounds cool to me, can Villa tag along?"
"Oh, of course! I think they would love to see your boyfriend. I didn't think anyone could ever imagine you being the gay kid."
They turned to me, whose cookie visibly crumbled more by the second due to my increasingly harder grip from rage. I was angry, too angry...Way angrier than I expected to be.
Then I made the biggest mistake of my life, well, maybe not, but it almost was.
"You think I'm weird? That's really what you think of me? That's fine! I don't have to talk anymore...We can be done...right here...and I'll go back...Leave this stupid world of yours behind, makes no difference to me!"
I sprinted out the doors, past them, and ran. I didn't know where I was going, all I knew was I wanted to get out of here. In all reality, I expected him to chase me from behind and hold me close, but he didn't move, not even an inch. I looked behind and got the last glimpse of his face, he was shocked.
I kept running and running down flights of stairs, past people that I did not know until I was outside. From there, I continued running until my feet splashed against the waves of the great sea.
My vision blurred, and I began to shake. My knees suddenly became soft as pudding and dropped to the ground.
Each time the wave came forth, salty seawater splashed onto my face. Not that I could tell...The saltwater coalesced with my tears, bringing life to a gross mix of regret and sadness.
I kneeled for a minute or two, desperately hoping to see a hand appear on my shoulder, and a kiss on my left cheek. Minutes more passed, and I was getting desperate.
Soon enough, horrid thoughts dawned upon me. I-I broke up with him...He doesn't care about me anymore...He won't come to comfort me...It's all my fault...
It was pretty fair to say that that was one of, if not the lowest point of my life.
All hope was lost...until my body felt arms constricting my body, a round object placed on my shoulders, and the smell of his shampoo flooding through my nostrils.
Upon realizing the touch of the other, my tears didn't stop, in fact, I only broke down more. No one could embarrass you harder than yourself, I should have heeded that quote.
