Theo's P.O.V
Let me make this clear to you.Boy and girl become friends.
Boy likes girl.
They are not friends.
Girl hates boy.I am surprised that Amelia agreed to let me drive her back to her college apartment. When leaving my home this morning, something urged me to turn into her street. My mom would kill me if she found out I let Amelia take an Uber back to campus.
My fingers slide onto the seat warmers to be turned on for her. I pulled my phone out to check for any updates. I rolled my eyes from a message from, Francesca. A girl who can't take a hint about a one night stand.
Scrolling down, I notice there has been a weird occurrence in my files. My mind shifted to anyone who will want to access my files. Everyone who needed access should have it.
A light knock to my window, makes me unlock my doors and put away my phone.
"Hey" Amelia said with a shy voice. Her voice lingered crawling under my skin. For someone who knew me my whole life shouldn't be nervous to talk to me.
"You're late." I said feeling the need to be stern. If I let my guard down like I did last night, she will warm up to me.
You don't ignore somebody for a whole summer and all of sudden decide to talk to them again.
"Sorry" She said biting her bottom lip. "I woke up late. I was rushing to get ready and make breakfast at the same time. I ended up burning everything and so" She said talking really fast and breaking down her entire morning for me. I used to care about these things but that voice in my head whispers she doesn't need you
I gripped the steering wheel and then making a quick turn on the right. She stopped talking to look at the street.
"We are grabbing breakfast and coffee, Lia" I said without thinking. It caused a shift in the air making my eyes keep straight on the road. Her eyes though, full of hope and joy that I called her the stupid nickname that I always used to call her. My hand reach to turn on the radio for some music to cut this feeling.
There is no way in hell I am going back to everyone stepping all over me. I am in control now and it will remain that way.
We stopped for breakfast and pull up to the drive thru. I rolled my window down and stopped by the speaker to hear someone greet us.
"Hi, one medium black coffee, a medium ice Carmel cold brew and a croissant, add butter then toast." I said and listened to the lady repeating the order back with my total.
I drove to the next window and paid for our order. The lady handed me everything in a cup holder. I placed it down in the middle of the console and moved to a parking spot.
"Here." I said and Amelia gave me a big smile that made me raise an eyebrow at her.
"What?" I asked grabbing my cup of hot coffee.
"You remembered my order." She said and I stopped drinking my coffee midway. Fuck, nice try pretending not to care about her.
"So?" I asked and she felt the satisfaction of knowing.
"You missed me." She sang and I was ready to choke on my coffee. Fuck, no. She will never get the side of me who cared about her, again.
"No, you needed breakfast so we got it. Plain and simple." I said putting the coffee down and started driving back to campus. It was about an hour drive back to campus.
When we arrived near campus, I drove next to her apartment complex that she was living in. I turned the engine off and unbuckled my seatbelt.
"We are here." I said quietly since she fell asleep the car ride.
Exiting the car at the same time, my intentions were to make sure she got into her apartment safe. She didn't question me until I was right by the elevator.
"Thanks for the ride and everything but you don't have to walk with me." She said and I stared at her waiting to see if she would change her mind. She was a stubborn woman but I was the asshole who doesn't back down from a fight.
"I will walk you." I said and walked into the elevator with her. She seemed a little uneasy while I noticed her fidgeting with a thread on her sweater.
Annoyance ran through my veins making me grab her hips and backing her into the elevator's wall. My hand slide down her arm of the sweater staring into her eyes. Her cheeks started rise into a cherry tint. I wrapped my finger around the thread and pulled it effortlessly making it snap from her sweater.
"My sweater." She groaned at me after a gasp.
"Even better." I said dropping my hands to my side as the elevator reached her floor.
"I am just going to grab something from my room." She said and I nodded my head.
I walked towards the living room to scan the space for anyone. It doesn't seem like Kayla or Aria are here so I walked towards the kitchen.
I scanned the kitchen counter and noticed a stack of papers in Amelia's name. I held one up and read the number in my head thinking of possible ways this could happen.
I felt a rush of confusion coming through my head and an ache in my chest. What the fuck?
"Theo?" I heard her call my name with footsteps approaching the kitchen.
"What is this?" I asked but more like I demanded when I slide the paper towards her.
She looked at them and then she looked me in my eyes. Her eyes were cold that sent shivers through my body. If she thinks she can shut me out of her life, she is wrong. Her wall of bricks are going to be bulldozed down by ME.
"Bills , Theo." She said and I gave her unbelievable look.
"I know what they are but why are these all in red saying Past Due." I asked grabbing more of it. She tried to get them out of my hands.
"Are you in trouble?" I asked and she shook her head side to side.
"Theo, thank you for everything but you can leave." She said with a thin smile on her face. I shook my head and my eyes narrowed at her.
"Tell me about the bills." I said and she shook her head. She walked towards the door and opened it.
"No, leave now. I don't have to explain anything to you." She said glaring at me. I pulled out some cash from my wallet and left it on the table.
"It is not much but I give you more money to you by tonight" I said putting the check down on the counter.
"Not necessary. Like you said we are not friends again because of one dinner." She said with fiery eyes on mine. My words thrown back into my face hurt.
I walked out of her apartment with anger. Angry at myself for fucking caring, again.
