Theodore's P.O.V

Volunteering to host an event on the college campus was torture. My parents did this Alumni meeting every year just to brag about their accomplishments. I had to coordinate all the plans just for them to eat brunch in a ballroom with peers.

I was tapping  the coffee machine trying to get it to work as Miles laughed beside me.

Miles Harrison was the dean's son. Girls were swooning over his tattoos and motorcycle. He hated the spot light so he was kind of a secretive guy.

"It's way too early for this. Coffee is not enough to recover from that Halloween party" He said with a grin on his face. Kayla sets out the name tags and lined them on the table. I am guessing this was his new side piece for the semester.

"I don't care." I said looking around. "Where the fuck is Shawn?" I asked with an aggravated tone. I was not expecting an answer from Kayla.

"With Aria" She said and continued helping Miles unpack boxes.

Shawn Felcan was a golden retriever who loves everyone. He never had any responsibilities and never cared about his own life. However, if Aria told him to bring the moon to her, he would.

I looked down at my clipboard to make sure I have everything I needed. I took a granola bar and shoved it down my throat.

"Hey Amelia" Kayla said aloud making me choke on the damn granola bar.

"Hey" Amelia said calmly waving to both Kayla and Miles. Her eyes connected with mine and I can tell that she was worried.

She comes beside the boxes and stand their expecting me to address her but I was furious. She hand cuffed me to the balcony that took hours for someone to find me. Then, I had to wait longer for someone to get me out of the hand cuffs. This made me late to set up for the Alumni event.

"Theo." She said quietly and it tugged at my chest like it used to when we were younger. She always did this when she needed something.

"What?" I asked harshly under my breath. She looks taken back like she was expecting a warm welcome from me.

I don't understand why she cut me out of her life and no matter how hard I tried to talk to her, she pushed me away. The last time I tried to call her, she blocked me. I was hoping to see her on campus but she walked passed me like I was a stranger.

She twiddled with her fingers on top of the box and looked up at me with her doe eyes.

"I was thinking that I should apologize for last night." She said and now I was speechless. This cold hearted spinless woman last night disappeared and she wanted to apologize. I was entertained and realized that Miles left with Kayla to give us some space.

I leaned against the table, looking down in her eyes.

"I am listening." I said feeling my heart thump a little faster in my chest. She was actually breaking the silence between us. Summer was a rough memory I tried to push away.

"I am sorry that I hand cuffed you on the balcony and left you out there by yourself. I understand you want to talk but I am not ready." She said in soft voice.

Ready? What is she talking about? She was the one who made our friendship a mess.

"I am sorry for ignoring you and hope we can start off fresh."She said and I stood up straight.

"Why all of sudden do you want to talk to me?" I asked her and there was no response. I wanted to stay mad at her so she understood how hurt I was.

"You had a lot of chances. I tried to talk to you and you acted like I was nobody to you." I said as it came out more harsher than I thought.

The guilt built up in my chest when I realized so much has changed.

"Let me make it up to you by helping you with the Alumni event." Amelia said and grabbed the clipboard away from me.

If it was anyone else, I would've grabbed the clipboard out their hands and pushed them away but it was Amelia.

I can trust her. Right?

Amelia was amazing when bossing other people around. She had this way of being nice when planning under pressure. The catering staff arrived late and she helped set up the food carefully. I was bringing in a group of volunteers to decorate and couldn't help but admire her fixing the trays on the table.

I was sending out the playlist to confirm with the DJ for the event and Amelia came up behind me.

"I think everything is ready to go besides the bar. I already put out the floral arrangements." She said with a smile and I nodded my head giving her a thin smile before it faded.

I pulled out an envelope from my back pocket and handed it to her. She gave me a confused look and opened the envelope.

"A ticket to the event." I said and she raised an eyebrow at me. "I noticed your parents didn't confirm the invite" I said starting to wonder why they were not attending the event. They normally do every year for my parents' sake.

She stared at the ticket and then back at me.

"I will join you for the event" She said with a small smile.

"Go and get ready. I will finish setting up the bar." I said and she nodded her head.

She gather her purse and jacket turning to walk towards the exit. She stopped in her tracks and turned to look at me.

"Theo, I just wanted to say that I missed you." She said and I nodded my head watching her walk away. It felt weird to enjoy that comment when I was trying to stay mad at her.
