don't mind me, just posting a chapter late bc I've been listening to the Book of Mormon soundtrack on loop

The date went better than Andrew expected. Derek made the entire night about Andrew, even inviting Andrew to his dorm for the night. "But what about Nolan?" Andrew asked. "This is his dorm too."

Derek just smiled and laughed. "Oh, he found a different dorm. Want to get your stuff and move back in with me?" Derek was quick to change the subject. Andrew noticed but didn't pay any attention to it. "Well, do you think you could move back to my dorm?" Andrew asked. Honestly, he would love to move back in with Derek, but he'd prefer if it were in his own room.

Though Andrew didn't notice, Derek's smile dropped for a fraction of a second before returning. "I could, but it would be so much simpler if you just moved over here," Derek softly sighed, turning his head down, smirking to himself as he saw Andrew's concerned face. "Well... I guess I could get my stuff," Andrew mumbled before Derek threw his arms around him, pulling Andrew in for a hug. "Thanks, babe. You're the best." Andrew swallowed, forcing himself to ignore the weird feeling in his stomach.

Andrew progressively began to hang out with Derek more than Jack and Oliver. He didn't intentionally do it, but Derek was around him so much he didn't really have any time to talk to his friends. Whenever he'd see them in the halls, he always try to go up to them, but Derek always pulled him away. He was going to text them, maybe even call them, but in the morning when he woke up, his phone was cracked in the middle and wouldn't turn on.

He told Derek about it, and Derek promised to buy him a new one. "I don't even know how it happened," Andrew explained to Derek. "I didn't even hear it fall last night." Even though Derek promised to get Andrew a new phone, he seemed pretty eager to change the subject when Andrew brought it up.

"Want to go on a date?" Derek asked suddenly after Andrew was about to bring up his phone again. "Another one?" Andrew questioned. Not that he didn't like that Derek suddenly wanted to go out more, but they did go on one last night. "Yeah, another one. Let's do it," Derek said, scrolling on his phone, not even looking up. "Oh, uh, okay." Andrew smiled at Derek who glanced up, clearly uninterested, before looking back at his phone.

"Uh, where are we going?" Andrew asked, making Derek look back up with an annoyed expression on his face. Derek replaced his deep frown with a smile. "I'm trying to find a place to go," Derek smiled, clearly sounding irritated. Andrew muttered a quick 'sorry' before looking around the room.

He trusted Derek more now, but it did seem like he lied about Nolan moving out. All his clothes were still in the closet, and a few of his personal belongings were scattered across the floor. He wanted to ask Derek about Nolan again, but it felt like he was annoyed enough at Andrew already so he didn't say anything.

"Here, I found a place," Derek finally said after a few minutes of silence. "It's some pizza place fifteen minutes away from here." Andrew smiled again. "Okay, go change and we'll leave after," Derek told Andrew, going back to his phone.

"Change? What's wrong with what I'm wearing right now?" Andrew questioned, pulling at the bottom of his dark blue t-shirt. Derek simply looked him up and down before shrugging. "Nothing, it's fine," Is all he said, making Andrew feel a little self-conscious.

"Well, I guess we'll go now." Derek sat up and walked out of the room, Andrew following him out after he quickly changed into a dark gray shirt.

"I've never been here before," Andrew spoke, looking around the pizza restaurant Derek choose. Derek didn't respond, getting a waitress to take them to their table. She handed Derek a menu, winking. Derek just smiled at her, making knots forming in Andrew's stomach.

When Andrew fake coughed to get her attention, she frowned and handed him a menu. "So, what would you like?" She flirtatiously asked Derek, twirling a strand of her blonde hair around her finger.

"Two slices of plain pizza." Either Derek didn't notice the flirting or didn't care because he didn't seem to be reacting to it. "I'll have one slice of plain pizza," Andrew interrupted, getting a hateful glare from the waitress.

She happily turned back to Derek. "What's your name, anyway? Mine is Ashley." Derek smirked at her, responding with, "I'm Derek, it's nice to meet you." Andrew hoped this wasn't going where he thought this was going. "Well, I'll be right back with your order," Ashley winked, swaying her hips slightly as she walked away.

Though Andrew didn't notice, Derek stared at the waitress as she walked away to get the food.

He sighed softly to himself, looking around the restaurant. As he was looking around, he saw two familiar faces walking in. Jack and Oliver.

Andrew told Derek he'd be right back and went up to greet his friends, hopefully getting to talk to them. "Hey, guys!" Andrew waved at them, seeing both their faces light up. Jack got the table while Oliver asked Andrew why he didn't answer their calls. "Somehow my phone broke so I need a new one," Andrew explained, hoping that his friends didn't think he was ignoring them on purpose.

"Oh, that makes sense," Oliver nodded. "Want us to get you a new one?" Jack asked, avoiding eye contact. Andrew smiled. "That's nice but Derek said he was going to get one for me." Both of his friends tensed up at his name, an awkward silence washing over them. "Anyway," Andrew began, trying to change the topic, what are you guys even doing here?" Jack blushed. "We were on a date." Oliver laughed and added, "It took him, like, twenty minutes to pick a place to go!"

The three of them laughed until Andrew noticed Derek at the table glaring at him. "I have to go back to Derek, maybe tomorrow we can hang out again?" Andrew really hoped they said yes. Jack smiled and said he'd love to while Oliver gave him a thumbs up. Andrew rushed back to his table to Derek, who looked pissed.

He tried to cover his anger with a smile, only managing to make himself looked even more pissed off. "Sorry," Andrew mumbled. He lowered his head, seeing that the food had arrived and Derek already finished both slices. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw their waitress walk into one of the party rooms the restaurant had and noticed Derek looking after her. "I have to go to the bathroom." Derek excused himself, walking towards the same party door. "That's not where the bath-" But Derek already walked in.

Andrew's heart hurt. He wanted to think that Derek really did mistake the party room for a bathroom and was going to walk out any minute, but that never happened. But Andrew still had some hope. After all the apologizing Derek did, he would cheat on him the day after. Right?

After about eight minutes, Andrew was sick of waiting for Derek. He wanted to go into the room and see what Derek was doing, but he didn't know if he wanted to see the answer. He sighed to himself, walking back over to Jack and Oliver's table. "Hey, I know you both are in the middle of a date, and this is probably a shitty thing to ask, but can I hang out with you guys?" Andrew's face was flushed red from embarrassment, but to his surprise, Oliver and Jack just smiled and let Andrew sit with them.

Andrew didn't want to acknowledge this, but he had more fun with them than he had with Derek the whole date.

I hate this chapter so much. I had more planned for this originally but I haven't been feeling that positive or motivated lately so a bunch of writing projects I have were just impossible to write.
