Ella was practically hopping in anticipation as they climbed the last ten floors, the doors finally opened. “Don’t move. Don’t do anything. It’s beginning to question itself.” The Dalek exited the elevator and glided up to the man who tortured it daily for who knows how long. Ella took note that it didn’t even look at Diana or herself.

“Van Statten, you tortured me. Whyyy?” at those words the man in question sputtered and cowered backing up to the back of the office as the Dalek approached with killing intent.

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I just wanted you to talk!” Ella was floored at that; didn’t she want the same thing from the Doctor just last night?

“Then hear me talk nooow. Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminaaate!” Ella dove in front of the man and faced the Dalek.

“Don’t do it! Don’t kill him, you don’t have to do this anymore. There must be something else! What do YOU want?”

“I want … freedom.” The Dalek and Ella began walking farther up to the surface, what the hell am I doing? The Doctor raced up the stairs with his big alien gun. The Dalek stopped moving and blasted a hole in the roof and a beam of sunlight poured in.

“You’re out. You made it.” Ella looked toward the light, “I didn’t think I’d feel the sun again.”

“How does it feeeel,” instead of waiting for an answer it opened its middle and dome sections to reveal the creature within, it lifted up a tendril and felt the sun for possibly the first time in its life.

“Get out of the way.” Ella turned and saw the Doctor and Rose quickly approaching from the end of the corridor, “Giselle, get out of the way now!” The last time he called her that he thought she was breaking up with him.

“No. I won't let you do this.” She refused to let this side of him take over.

“That thing killed hundreds of people.”

“It's not the one pointing the gun at me.” It was an unfair point; she knew but he needed to see what he was letting himself become.

“I've got to do this. I've got to end it. The Daleks destroyed my home, my people. I've got nothing left.” The emotional break in his voice caused a lump to form in her throat.

“You’ve got me. Now, put that gun down before it takes you too.” Ella moved out of the way so the Doctor can see the Dalek. “Besides, look at it. It's the sunlight, that's all it wants … it’s lost now, isn’t it?”

The sight of the Dalek’s casing open and the creature bathing in the warmth of the sunlight knocked the fight out of the Warrior, “but it can't.”

“It didn’t kill Van Statten, it couldn't kill me. It's changing. What about you, Doctor? What the hell are you changing into?” at her controversial words he finally lowered his gun.

“I couldn’t … I wasn’t … I’m so sorry.” Ella wanted to hug him but the situation was still highly precarious.

“I am the last of the Daaaleks.” Its voice changed since its shell opened up, less metallic and grating but still obviously a Dalek voice.
