“Yes, that’s it. She’s the liar, intercept and scan.” The Editor ordered and the cameras in the newsroom on Floor 139 zoomed in on Suki. He watched as the woman on the monitor flinched and pulled away her hands as if she just received an electric shock. She got berated by the others in the room and apologized for what must have been a glitch. “Her information’s been tampered with, there’s a second biography hidden underneath.”

The Editor heard a very jarring snarl from above him that always made him jump a little. He apologized profusely to his boss for not having caught on sooner, he heard his next orders. “Get her up here. Now!”

A wall in the newsroom lights up with the word ‘promotion’ as the computer states the same aloud. Cathica had her fingers crossed that she was the one getting the promotion to floor 500. “Promotion for … Suki Macrae Cantrell, please proceed to floor 500.”

The girl was shocked, “I don’t believe it … floor 500!”

“How the hell did you manage that? I’m above you.” The disdain was clear in Cathica’s voice.

Suki slowly approached the huge screen in the room displaying her name for the promotion. “I don’t know. I just applied on the off chance … and they said yes!”

“That’s so not fair. I’ve been applying for a promotion for three years.”

Rose piped up from her spot next to Ella, “what’s floor 500?”

“The walls are made of gold,” the brunette answered, and Rose noticed how her eyes kept trailing over to Cathica. Something the Doctor also noticed which caused a confusing amount of dislike for the woman Ella was paying attention to.

Later when Suki was packed and making her farewells to her coworkers, Ella watched as Rose approached Adam who was still trying to get ahold of today. She subtly rolled her eyes as he claimed his need to go off on his own and acclimatize to everything happening around him. “Do you want me to go with you?”

“Nah, you stick with Ella and the Doctor … you’d rather be with them. It’s going to take a better man than me to get between you.” Ella huffed and turned from her spot and stood next to the Doctor. She missed Rose giving her Tardis key to Adam in case it got too weird for him and she completely missed the smug smile that overtook his face as he walked away with the key in hand.

She looked back and watched him walk away as Rose took her spot next to her, “isn’t he acting a little weird today?” she asked as the Doctor and Suki hugged before she rushed into the elevator that would take her to Floor 500.

Rose looked back at where the man in question disappeared to, “yeah. I thought it was just me that noticed. It’s not like this is his first adventure so why does he gotta freak out now? After spending weeks with us you figure he might be used to it.” Hmm, that doesn’t bode well.

Before Ella could question it further Suki’s loud shout of “BYYYEEE,” startled her and she tuned back into the Doctor.

“Good riddance,” Cathica mumbled with her arms crossed.

“You’re talking like you’re never going to see her again,” Ella started.

“She’s only going upstairs,” Rose finished.
