"Sooo, how did it go?" Vanessa asked as I walked back into the base. Luck and I had agreed to keep whatever this was under wraps for now.
"You guys didn't arrive at the same time, what happened?"
"Why would we?"
"Because you guys were in town toge-." This time Vanessa clapped her hands over her mouth.
"How the flip, do you know that?"
"How else did you think Luck would find you? The capital isn't exactly small."
"I hadn't thought about it, but you must've known somehow that we'd end up by the fountain."
"All the roads lead there, I knew you'd get there at some point."
"Ah yes, right."
"So, how did it go? I've been laying off on drinks, so that I don't forget anything!"
"Oh no poor Vanessa, not having any booze for 9 whole hours." I teased.
She rolled her eyes at me.
"This isn't going to help you, you know. I can always go to Luck and ask him, we all know that he can't keep a secret to save his life."
Shoot. I hadn't thought of that.
"I'll tell you just not here, let's go to my room."
So we went to my room, and as I opened the door, someone was waiting for me...
"Hi, Luck." I said absent-mindedly, acknowledging him.
"Wait, Luck? What are you doing here?"
"Visiting you." He said in his usual chirpy voice. He started walking towards me.
"Luck, we have an audience." I muttered, so only he could hear it, nodding over to Vanessa.
He came closer and gave me a hug, saving what would have been a very awkward moment.
"I'll come back later then!" He said, skipping out of the room.
"Well, me and Faris were in town, as you know, and at first we were wandering around, because we didn't really have any plans. Then we got to the fountain and Faris went to get some popcorn, that's when Luck popped up. He then ran off to get something to eat as well, and we ended the day with some rooftop-tag. That's my morning in a nutshell."
"Interesting. If only it were true."
"It is!"
"You're being stubborn, but I will break you. And that's a promise!" She said as she walked out of the room.
I started meeting up with Faris on a regular basis. I wasn't very excited for our next meetup, because I knew he'd just be teasing me about Luck the whole time. As he always did now.
This time I was the last one to arrive, Faris was chilling at the fountain, our new designated meeting spot. It was getting late and the marketplace was almost empty except for a few people still browsing in the setting sun.
We couldn't meet for very long, but I still enjoyed the time with my brother. Just then I remembered something:
"You didn't tell me the name of your crush, peck neck."
"What? Oh right, that. Besides it's boyfriend not crush, sheesh, Beckie get your facts straight." He said, prodding me in the ribs.
I just stared.
"You heard right! Beckie, I am officially no longer single!"
"You still haven't answered my question. Who is he??" I was starting to get frustrated.
Just then the captain of the Crimson Lions, Fuegoleon Vermillion, joined us, casually putting his arm around Faris' shoulders and gave him a quick kiss on the head.
I gaped.
"Oh, right! Beckie, Fuego, Fuego, Beckie."
"So this is that dude who's mighty fine?" I said winking at Faris.
Fuegoleon looked between us.
"Personally, I think Faris is finer."
*1 hour later*
"Well I best be off, it's getting late." I said stifling a yawn.
"Yeah and besides I'm sure you miss your comrades or..."
I looked at him confused.
"Just your Luck."
"Omg, that's even worse than dad's jokes and that's saying something! It doesn't even make sense."
I got onto my broom and started flying home. I hate to admit it but Faris was right, I did miss Luck, more than anyone else. I flew faster, eager to see him again.
