The next morning I woke up due to a vision. It wasn't bad though. In this one someone just lost their balance and slipped. They hadn't ever gone away, they just handled smaller things like minimal scratches or bruises. I was about to drift off again when a certain someone woke me up:

"Beckie! You can't sleep now, you're going to be late."

"Late for what?"

"Don't you know what day it is?"

"Saturday?" I asked genuinely confused.

"No, well yeah, but that's not what I mean." Luck said, snuggling down next to me.

"Hey, I thought you were trying to wake me up! Anyway, what's today?"

"The selection exams?"

"So?"

"You're the Vice Captain, your appearance is mandatory."

I groaned.

"When do I have to leave?"

"You have 20 minutes until Finral comes back for you."

I groaned again and got up. I walked over to the screen and started getting changed.

"I still don't see the point of that. I mean, underwear covers the same amount of skin that a bikini does and I've seen you in one of those."

"Yeah, but what if I'm not wearing anything under here?"

This made Luck turn crimson.

"I'll be right back, I just have to go and do my hair."

"It looks fine."

"No it doesn't, there are hairs sticking off everywhere!"

*After the exams*

There had been a few interesting candidates, but other squads had snatched them so we ended up only having one.

"If you follow me, Mercy, I'll show you to your room, which should be ready by now."

He just nodded, probably intimidated by the hideout. I mean it's big, dark and some parts look unstable and like they're about to fall off.

As we ventured inside everyone else was sitting around the table, eating lunch.

"Beckie! I saved you a spot." Luck called, standing up and waving at me.

"I'll be right there, I just have to show Mercy to his room."

Luck scowled as he sat back down.

A few days went by and Luck was always in a bad mood, he would hardly talk to me and whenever I confronted him about it he only gave brief answers, which didn't help me at all. One day Mercy and I came home from a walk, laughing. As we entered the base Magna and Luck were fighting, as usual, and as soon as Luck heard us laughing he zoomed over, pinning Mercy to the wall.

"Back. Off." hissed Luck.

Mercy looked over to me helplessly. He was shaking.

I didn't know what to do. I'd never seen Luck like this before.

"She's my girlfriend, so back off." Luck hissed.

Mercy stared at him in disbelief and a nervous laugh escaped his lips.

"Don't laugh at me!" Luck told him.

"....Dude, I'm not trying to steal her from you-"

"Yeah, right."

"I'm serious. Luck, I'm gay."

"Oh."

"Is it possible that you were jealous of Mercy, my prince?"

"Maybe..."

"But why?"

"Well you spend so much time with him and you guys are clearly enjoying it."

"That's only because he hasn't gotten around to making any other friends yet."

"Well then maybe he should make some," Luck's eyes glinted.

'Oh no' was all I could think because I knew exactly what was coming.

"Maybe that's not-" I tried to tell Luck that not all problems could be solved by fighting, but it was too late.

"Mercy, do you wanna fight?"

"Sure?"

Over the next few days Luck and Mercy fought more and more. I don't entirely understand how but they really seem to get along well. I would never have thought that there would be another person who enjoyed fighting almost as much as Luck.
