I was in a dark corridor.
"Luck?" I cried.
"LUCK? WHERE ARE YOU?" I was covered in sweat.
I turned the corner and there he was slumped against the wall. I ran over to him, and checked for a pulse. I couldn't find one.
"LUCK! No this isn't right, not here..." I sobbed.
I sat bolt up right in a pool of sweat.
"Beckie? Is something wrong?" Luck said groggily. I must've woken him.
"No, everything's fine. Go back to sleep."
I tried to fall asleep again, but I couldn't, I just kept tossing and turning. I finally managed to calm down enough and close my eyes.
Suddenly I woke up again, from another nightmare. In this one someone had dropped a glass and cut themselves on it.
Over the next few nights I kept having the same dream over and over again, until it lasted half a second and I could see everything 30 minutes before that.
For the rest of the night I kept dreaming about Luck over and over again, until I couldn't take it anymore. I got up, went to the bathroom and splashed some cold water on my face. This helped me come to my senses. I often did this when my nightmares got too vivid and real.
"Beckie?" Someone said from the door.
"This isn't the first time that you've had trouble sleeping, is it?"
I spun around, seeing Luck.
"Go back to sleep, I'm fine." I said not wanting to burden him with my problems.
"No, I won't, until you tell me what's going on, Beckie. Talk to me."
"I've just been having nightmares, that's all." I said, having gotten used to them.
"For how long?" He asked, noticing my casual tone.
"Just one or two days."
"Beckie, talk with me." He looked at me as though I was stupid.
"Why? I just don't want to burden you with my petty problems. Besides, they're just nightmares."
"You're so stubborn." He chuckled lightly
"Don't you get it? That's why I'm here right now. I care about you. I could have carried on sleeping. Now tell me what's wrong."
I hated the fact that he was right. I couldn't play brave anymore. I collapsed to the floor, hating that the only person to have ever seen me cry was Luck. I had always been the unfazed one, the one people came to when they had to talk about something. I couldn't hide it any longer, my bottled up feelings had finally gotten the better of me, so I let it all out. We sat there, in a bathroom, for over half an hour just waiting for me to be finished.
"Do you want to talk about them?" Luck asked as we headed back to our room.
"Not really, maybe at some point, but they'll go away soon."
We clambered back into bed and fell asleep. My usual sequence started again after all. I must have shown some sort of physical signs of discomfort, because Luck put his arm around me and pulled me close he whispered to me:
"You'll always be safe in my arms...." He paused.
"... Rebecca."
I was safe here, I felt like nothing could harm me. And just like that I slept through the rest of the night like a baby.
*The next day*
I woke up from the scent of pancakes and sat up hungry. We got ready and walked downstairs together holding hands, without even realising it. As we arrived at the bottom of the stairs everyone was staring at us.
"What is it?" I asked into the room.
"You're-... with him? Asta asked, breaking the silence, looking like a child who had just learned how babies are made.
"How do you know?!" I asked, having grabbed Luck's hand out of habit and not even noticing.
"You guys are holding hands."
I looked down and he was right. I blushed like a teenage-girl.
"Well that's one way to do it." Luck grinned at me, planting a quick peck on my lips. We joined the rest of our friends at the table.
Noelle fainted.
"So are you officially a couple or what, la?" Charmy asked.
"We don-..." Luck started.
"Yeah, actually we are." I looked at Luck asking with my eyes whether this was okay.
He just nodded in agreement.
At this Magna dropped his glass and as he went to pick up one of the shards, he cut himself exactly how it was in my dream. At this I got up and went outside without saying anything. Was I having visions? I'd heard of people with them before, so it was definitely a possibility. But if they really were visions, tha- that would mean.... No, I couldn't finish that thought.
"Beckie?" Someone approached me from the front. It was Grey, presumably she'd just gotten back from her walk.
"Hi, Grey." I said not looking at her, knowing she would get embarrassed and freak out.
"Is something wrong?" She looked at me concerned.
"I'm not entirely sure yet. I think I might be having visions."
"What makes you think that?"
"It's just last night I kept dreaming about someone cutting their hand on broken glass and today it happened." I explained my reasoning.
"Ok, but you looked upset. Is there anything else?"
"Well I am having another dream regularly, which makes me think it's a vision too, but I don't want it to happen."
"What happens in it?" Grey asked tentatively.
"Someone important to me dies." I said, scared if I said his name I'd burst into tears.
"It's Luck, isn't it?"
"How long have you known?" I asked, getting used to the fact that everyone had seen through us.
"Not long, I was practicing my object transformations and well, you guys couldn't stop flirting with each other..." She trailed off.
"Hey, Grey?"
"Mhm?"
"Thanks for that, you're a great listener."
"Come on, let's get some breakfast." She said beckoning for me to come with her.
I nodded and followed, there was no way I would let the day start without any of Charmy's pancakes.
