Hazel was once again wondering the streets of Bones Burrow, carrying her bag of newly borrowed books back to Hexside. She had just finished her day at the library, hanging out with Amity.
Hearing an explosion, the demon looked around. The police precinct was only across the street, and watching it worried her. There was a giant hole in its wall, and out of the hole ran Eda the Owl Lady, carrying her staff. The witch noticed Hazel standing opposite her, and she hurried over. Gasping for breath, she placed a hand on her shoulder. "Hazel! Boy, am I glad to see you!" She panted. Hazel squinted at Eda. "Uh...Miss Owl Lady? What are you doing here? And how did you-"
"I'M NOT EDA! It's me, Luz!" The Owl Lady burst out, shaking the witching's shoulders.
Before Hazel could ask what she meant, they heard another voice, and the two turned around to see Lilith and a few guards standing in the wrecked wall of the building. Luz ran in the other direction. Hazel let out a yelp, racing after the Owl Lady.
"Okay, if I were Eda and Eda is King, where would I be? Ah! This thing's so confusing!" Eda-Luz, groaned. Hazel glanced over her shoulder at the guards, who were quickly catching up. "Ok, mind explaining to me what in titan is going on?!" She asked, grabbing Luz's hand and dragging her into an alley way, out of the guards sight. Luz sighed. "Eda body-swapped us so then we could learn a lesson about each others hardships!"
Hazel was silent a moment. "That's....that's actually impressive. Eda can do that?"
The two found themselves out side the Kitten Cafe, and they looked around to see if the guards were still following. Hazel let out a sigh when she heard no guards stomping after them.
However, she did hear something else. A thumping sound, as if someone was banging on the window. The two turned around to find King and Luz-well, at least someone who looked like Luz- standing at the window of the Kitten Cafe. King called out to Luz in Eda's body. "Luz! Bring my dang body over her!" He yelled. Luz ran over to the shop, while Hazel hung back. "That's Eda? Who's in your body?" She asked curiously. Before Luz could answer, however, she opened the door and snuck inside. The demon waited a few seconds while Luz helped her friends.
Luz came bursting out a few seconds later, with two angry women after them. "What weird stuff did you get my body into?" Luz asked, as Hazel backed up into the group. "U-uh...guys?" She pointed to something shakily. The Emperors guards stood before them, Lilith leading the way. "There she is!" The head of the coven yelled.
Lilith squinted at Hazel for a moment, taking note of her brown hair and white freckles.
Hazel's eyes widened, as Lilith pointed right at her. "Get them all! Don't let any of them escape!"
The small dog barked, and the small group began running the other way. "I got the same question." King-Eda said to Luz.
As they turned to run, Boscha's friends came flying in on their now floating boots. Luz-or who Hazel thought might've been King- groaned. "Dang! I forgot about them!"
Hazel turned to King. "What did you do to make Boscha angry?!" She yelled. King in Luz's body shrugged.
Eda turned to the kids. "Alright, did everybody learn a valuable lesson about experiencing each other's hardships?"
King and Luz nodded in agreement, and Eda grabbed her staff. "Good, let's end this nightmare. Kiddo, you might wanna take a step back." She informed Hazel. "Body swap!"
Throwing her staff in the air, Luz, King and Eda were enveloped in a golden light. When the light disappeared, everyone was in their own bodies. Eda was now wearing a bee costume, Luz was wearing oven mitts and King was wearing a blue volunteer shirt. The small demon admired the shirt, as the costume Eda was wearing ripped in two. Luz took her oven mitts off, and all looked up to find Lilith approaching them.
"Sister! Time and again I've offered you my help, yet you foolishly run back to your worthless life. I'm tired of trying, Edalyn. Your days of running are over! And so are yours, Hannah!" The head of the Emperors Coven moved her finger to Hazel, and she backed away, earning a confused look from Luz.
Eda turned to Luz. "Thanks, Luz."
The human turned her gaze back to Eda. "Sorry..." she mumbled guiltily, as Eda sighed. "Don't worry. I got this. Body swap!"
With that, she spun her staff and directed the beam at everyone while Luz, King and Hazel ducked.
Lilith looked surprised for a moment, before the real Lilith's voice was heard coming from the dog. "Eda, you rotten sister! Switch me back! Ah!"
Chaos erupted from around them, as all those who'd been chasing them began to fight each other.
"Are they going to be okay?" King asked. Eda shrugged. Luz turned to Eda, holding King. "Eda, I just wanna say that things can be more complicated than you think. But with you guys, it all feels a little less mixed up."
Eda smirked at the human. "Aw, that's sweet, kid. Now, let's never speak of this again." She announced. Owlbert hooted as he unfurled his wings. The Owl Lady turned to Hazel. "Hey, need a lift outta here?" She asked. "Seems like you're on the run from something too." She cackled.
The demon had been silent the entire time, eyes unfocused as she watched dog Lilith weeping and barking in frustration. Eda's voice snapped her out of her trance, and she glanced up at her.
The witchling smiled, hopping on Owlbert and sitting behind Eda, watching everything below her zoom pass in a blur.

"Yeah, just drop me off there!" Hazel pointed to the ground. Eda got Owlbert to land, and the witchling hopped off, almost falling over her legs were so shaky. "Whoa, I didn't know staffs could do that!" She breathed. Eda laughed. "First time flying?"
Hazel nodded, turning to face the Owl Lady. "Um, thanks for getting me out of there. I don't think I would've gotten away easily." She said. Eda waved her off. "Eh, no biggie. Just be careful next time." The Owl Lady said, zooming off on her staff. "Bye!"
"Bye Hazel! See you soon!" Luz yelled above the wind, her voice fading into the distance.
Hazel waved them off, her smile fading.
She had to be careful. If the head of the Emperor's Coven was now after her, she's in big trouble.

Luz, Eda and King were almost at the Owl House. The trip was mostly quiet, as they thought over the events of that day. Finally, Eda spoke up. "Huh, you never told me your friend was in trouble with the Emperor's coven." She commented, never taking her eyes away from the horizon. Luz shook her head. "I didn't know. Hazel's never told me about it." She answered. Eda shrugged. "Well, my only guess is that she did some pranks on someone important." The older witch suggested. "Yet, it still doesn't make sense..."
Luz shrugged. "Any way, who is going to clean Hooty?"
