I wake to an alarm and attempt to shift over in my bed. Wilkes has his arm around my waist and is holding me against him.

"Wilhelm, get up and turn that damn thing off." I groan.

"No." he pouts. It has now been a month since Wilkes and I decided to forgive each other and it seems as though we're always together now.

"Turn it off or you're never staying with me again."

"Liar." His voice is more awake. "You wouldn't do that."

"Oh I would. I'd go to great lengths to get a good night's sleep."

"How great?" he smirks, crawling over my body.

"Not that great." I roll my eyes, containing my smile as I pull away from him and stand up from my bed. He turns the alarm off and sits up against the headboard. "Come on, we have to get ready for work."

"Go on a date with me."

"Nuh uh." I say walking through the bathroom door, reaching for my toothbrush. He groans in response.

"Why not?"

"Same as always, I haven't changed my mind."

"You can do everything else with me but you can't go on a date?"

"Mhm." I respond, putting the brush in my mouth.

"How does that work?"

I spit into the sink, "Because we can't be together, Wilkes."

"It's a date, not marriage."

"A date leads to more dates, which leads to a relationship."

"We're not even at that point yet! I'm just asking for a date."

"And I'm saying 'no'."

"You always say 'no'." he pouts following me into the bathroom. "That's my toothbrush." He stands watching me brush my teeth. I pull it out of my mouth realizing that I'm not using my own toothbrush.

"I'm done anyway." I spit into the sink as I rinse the brush before handing it back to him.

"See? This is what I'm saying. I have half of my shit here at your house already and you still won't go on a date with me."

"What can I say?" I shrug, smiling at him. He pops the toothbrush into his mouth as I exit the bathroom.

"What the fuck?" I mumble as we pull into the Firm's parking lot. There is a small crowd surrounding the entrance along with two cop cars parked in the front. "What's going on?"

"I don't know..." He mumbles back, parking in his designated parking spot. The two of us get out of the car and push our way through the park.

Big rocks the size of basketballs have been thrown through the glass doors, setting off the alarm. Across the wall, is been written in spray paint, FUCK WITH ME, AND PAY THE PENALTY.

At the door, the cops are blocking anyone from entering as they speak with security. I follow Wilkes as he approaches them.

"That's him right there." one of the security guards point to Wilhelm. The officer turns his attention towards us.

"Good evening, Officer. Wilhelm Daine."

"Hello Mr. Daine. We were alerted that the building had been broken into. I'd like to see if anything has been stolen or destroyed and to review your security cameras."

"Of course. I haven't had a chance to see inside yet." Despite everything, Wilhelm's voice is cool. It's chilling.

He walks towards the door and opens it wide, just in case any loose glass from the edges decides to fall. Everyone stays outside as a security guard approaches Wilhelm. "We've done a thorough check on most of the building and there's only a few remaining floors."

"Have you checked my office?" He responds.

"We haven't covered that floor or the two beneath it. We'll start from the bottom."

"I guess we'll meet you at the top." I hold Wilhelm's arm as we enter the elevator. The police officers follow close behind.

"You just can't catch a break, huh?" I whisper to him.

"I suppose not." he replies.

"What do you mean?" the female officer speaks up.

"Earlier this month I've had a few instances similar to this one. At first the tires on my vehicle were slashed, then someone attempted to break into my home whilst I was away. Both situations are still being looked into but now I'm beginning to think it's not such a coincidence that this is all happening in such close measures of time."

The police officers nod their head in understanding as the elevators open. They linger back, conversing with one another as we make our way to Wilkes' office.

Both of our doors have been pried open. My eyes wide as they're the only two doors tampered with. I let it a sharp gasp as I scramble to my room only to find my book shelves destroyed along with my desk flipped over and my computer smashed. I cover my mouth with my hand, searching for the books given to me by Wilkes.

I crawl onto my knees, fumbling through the pile of broken wood and books torn by their pages and spines. My eyes widen.

"Lenora what are you doing?" I hear Wilhelm's voice s as my eyes begin to flood. I lift my favorite, first edition books to my chest and let out a soft cry. "Come here, darling, you're okay." He leans down, hugging me to his chest. When he releases me he looks down and sees my book turn in half and partially burnt. He frowns in response.

This is the thing that reminded me of how much I missed him. It brought me back to him and now it's destroyed.

"It's fine. I'll live." I mumble.

"I know, darling, but it's still disappointing." I nod my head in agreement. The two of us stand, making our way to his office. He's the first to push open the door before letting out a sigh.

If I thought my room was bad then I'm stupid. Wilhelm's is so much worse. Similar to mine, his desk and chairs had been thrown all about, along with everything on the walls being torn down.

But soaked into his carpet is a crimson red liquid. My heels slosh with every step I take into the room. The cops walk in behind us.

"Step back. I'm going to need you guys to leave the room." they order, before speaking into they're radios.

The building quickly becomes a crime scene and everyone is ordered to go home. Wilhelm is told to stay to be brought in for questioning. He gives me the keys to his car as he was the one who drove me here.

"Here Lenora, take my keys and go back to my place. Wait for me there okay?" I nod in response.

"I'll come back to pick you up."

"No, just stay there for now." he argues. "I don't know what's happening and I'd be more comfortable with you there." I furrow my eyebrows, but nod anyway, agreeing.

I lean up, placing a quick kiss on his lips before turning around to leave.
