TW: Domestic Violence

Wilhelm Daine;

I jolt awake to a loud noise but I cannot tell if it was part of a dream. I don't hear anything anymore. Realizing I'm not in my own bed, I take in my surroundings. I jump out of bed at the sight of a photograph sitting on the nightstand. It was of Lenora and Goren.

Please tell me, I did not go home with Lenora's mother last night.

I scramble around, looking for my trousers. As I'm sliding them on I take notice of a bra on the floor.

No... that can't be her mother's. It was far too small considering she looks like she's had three breast implants.

I tremble at the thought. Suddenly it clicks and my memories begin swamping my mind.

I went home with Lenora last night.

Before I have time to think it through any further I hear Lenora's voice.

Is she screaming?

I hesitantly walk to the door, opening it in an attempt to hear more clearly. "Get away from me!"

Her voice sounds pained. I make my way to her voice as quickly as I possibly can. When I enter the room, she's on the floor with a man perched on her chest. Her face is covered in bruises and blood. He is gripping her jaw, yelling in her face, as her eyes slowly give away.

I rush over and grab the back of his collar yanking him backwards. The adrenaline rushing through my body blinds me. I can't see or hear what I'm doing, I just am. For a moment, I go absolutely feral. I cannot even remember what I've done.

When I finally come to, I am perched above him as he was, Lenora. My fists are bloodied and swollen. I look down to the man's disrepaired face and realize the blood doesn't belong to me entirely.

I immediately reach for my cell phone in my pocket, hoping it'd still be there after last night.

Yes.

I begin dialling 911 as I look back to Lenora. Her face is cut in several different places and there's a small bit of blood pouring down her mouth. I squat down and begin attempting to unstick the hair from her face as gently as I can without hurting her further.

"What is the address of your emergency?"

"I'm sorry I'm not sure. Let me ask." I look into Lenora's brown eyes. "Lenora, darling. What's your address?" I ask but she's not exactly in a good state. "Lenora, darling, can you hear me? What's your address? Lenora, what's your address?" I try a few more times.

"Hello? What's the address of your emergency?"

"I'm not sure. I asked but she's not responsive." I shake my head into the phone.

"Do you need medical attention?"

"Yes." I roll my eyes.

That much was obvious.

"Can you tell me what happened?"

"I'm not quite sure, myself. I awoke to a loud noise and when I came outside of the room, my friend was on the floor being attacked by a man."

"Do you know who the attacker was?"

"No idea."

"Where is he now?"

"Here in the room. He might be unconscious." I speak walking over to nudge him with my foot. He winces at the contact. "Never mind." I hear Lenora laugh. I smirk looking back to her but it drops once I see her face, again. There is blood covering her teeth and she's bruising horribly. Her face drops as well.
