Let's just say, I was not expecting Arachne, the spider demon, to come back from the underworld to seek revenge on me. I thought I had defeated her for, well, ever. I didn't think she was going to come back again. Never again!

But, sadly, one worst fears has come to reality. Just my luck. I guess that's the regular life of a demigod, but I was still gonna be mad at her. You know, being the usual, stubborn self.

So, when Arachne said, "My, did I surprise my defeater? Well, it looks like I'm the more superior now. Right, daughter of Athena?" my temper rising and there was no way I could stop it.

Of course, I responded as if I could actually win whatever test this was. I just spat out, "Oh, I swear to Athena that I will kick your butt and come out of here, laughing my head off at your loss, once again." Even though my fear of spiders was still with me, it must have softened when I defeated Arachne before. Thank the gods, but if my mom hadn't made an immortal enemy, I wouldn't be stuck in this horrendous mess in the first place!

I then stupidly suggested that this was a "fight to the death" and whoever won was the supreme victor for the rest of eternity (not a very good deal for my mom). So, as I grumbled and cursed in ancient Greek, I feared that my mother would actually kill me at my loss of this battle. Can you say, "How stupid you are, Annabeth"?

At battle positions, we charged.
