The Battle

With my dagger at hand, I quickly stabbed and blocked Arachne's attacks. I don't know how, with my recent injuries, but I managed to stay alive for almost half of the fight.

It was too gruesome to even look at me afterward. By that point, Arachne had wounded my arm, leaving a large puddle of blood where I was pinned to the ground. Four of her spider legs held my legs against their own will, making me kick myself in the place that hurts the most. Her other two legs were punching and kicking me, cutting into old scars on my skin. Her cold eyes stared into mine, as if we could continue like this for eternity.

But I knew that I would die eventually, not because of this filthy creature who had no right to be alive at that very moment. I was going to live.

So, I thought about ways that could help me in this situation.

As I was scrolling through the list of things in my head, the Persian War came into mind. If Arachne doesn't expect me to attack after I "die", then I could actually win this.

So, after one final kick to the face and butt, I let out one last, long breath, and pretended to die. In the Persian War, I might as well have let my guard down with the Persians. But little did Arachne know that I was going to take control like the Athenians and defeat her once and for all.

I continually held my breath until Arachne climbed off of me. "Well, well. The mighty Annabeth Chase has finally come to an end." She went over to me, probably to tell Athena what she has done.

Without a second thought, I took a big gulp of air and kneed Arachne in her face. Taking the advantage of her slow recovery, I side kicked her in her ribs, making her wail in misery. I pulled out my dagger again and chopped two of her legs off, seeing that blood was everywhere.

Thankfully, Arachne had not been expecting my full on attack.

I punched her face and finally stabbed her, making her disintegrate into millions of tiny gold dust pieces.

"You!" I heard another familiar voice said. "You are the one I have missed."

"Excuse me?" I asked.

Without another word, she through powder at me and my head swirled into my comforting land of blackness.
