"Again?" She shook her head as she continued to look down at her lap. At that moment, she contemplated what to do with herself. Already she went through the process of making a dessert. It wasn't as though she could stop the process of it now. Out of her indecisiveness, she lightly smacked her cheeks with her hands. Minutes of pondering passed, she finally got up from her chair.
"I'll go and grab the last ingredient," she nodded. "Finally, I will get myself out of the dumps for good."
A hum escaped her lips, and she hummed while she got herself ready to leave. She looked throughout her apartment, and a sudden realization hit her. Mr. Buttons watched her with big eyes as he waited to be spoiled by his owner. The hamster sat there and (Y/N) smiled back at her beloved pet. In the kitchen, she sliced some small bits of strawberries for him. Along with that, she gave him new water and placed the food in his home.
With that, she left and made her way to the grocery store. She hugged her shoulders, for it was fairly chilly with the falling orange leaves. Fall. Turning a new leaf, and for some, it was a new beginning. The only new thing that came along with this season was meeting Yeong-gi.
How is he? He must be doing something important. Then again, he comes from a well-off family. I wonder if he ate today. Did he pack his own lunch for today, or did he buy himself a quick bite? Yeong-gi is the type to eat instant noodles at the convenience store. Who am I to him? What am I to him? I shouldn't worry about him all so much. He seems to be doing well with himself. How are things with his girlfriend going? I'm sure that she listens to his concerns and gives him a shoulder to lean on... (Y/N) thought.
Step, step... She stopped her tracks. The thought of him was all over the place. The way he smiled at her. The way he tried to cheer her up. He knew the right things to say. She will admit, she was taken back with how nice he was. Really she grew to like him a lot. The intensity of it all began to burn up inside.
"I am unsure I could do this.." She shut her eyes. All she wanted was to fall right then and there. Being in love again was painful. Especially when that love is not mirrored from the same person. Her pain comes from the fear and needs to feel loved, nurtured, and protected. Things took a turn, and the familiar man appeared.
"I didn't expect to see you here." Yeong-gi smiled. "Is something the matter? You look glum. Really glum."
(Y/N) shook her head. "Not at all. What are you doing here, Yeong-gi?"
"Uh well..." He held out a small paper bag as he rubbed the back of his neck. (Y/N) was curious as to what it was, and she took it from him. Upon opening it, she found a small bottle of vanilla extract. How did he know I needed this...?
"You texted me to get you it, remember?"
"What- Ah I'm so sorry! I didn't even remember sending you a text!" Her face grew hot from embarrassment as it all came back to her. Earlier, that day she kept hesitating to send him a text. Worried about what Kousuke would say and how her own anxiety pulled her back. She must have happened to send that one message...

In the kitchen, Yeong-gi quietly watched (Y/N) flip the crepe. She wanted to make a crepe cake, and Yeong-gi was quite intrigued with how to make it. However, (Y/N) wanted him to have a bit of fun and wanted to teach him how to make it. So she moved aside and gestured for him to move forward to the stove.
"Geez, what are you waiting for? Make a crepe! Pour some of the crepe batter and then flip it over when it cools through." She smiled as she lightly brushed him. He continued to stare at the pan, contemplating his next move. He took a deep sigh before he poured the crepe batter in and would attempt to make one layer of crepe.
A minute soon passed, and he attempted to flip the crepe over. Indeed he managed to flip the crepe, but the crepe was still cooking and looked a bit gross. The crepe layer was very thick, and in a panic, he flipped it back over. The crepe was still not cooked on the other side, and it made a bit of a mess. Silence filled the room. Yeong-gi stood staring down at the mess he made in the pan. (Y/N) stood there at a loss of words, and she was unsure what to make of the situation. Both Yeong-gi and (Y/N) looked at one another before they broke into a laugh.
"Need a hand with baking?" Yeong-gi grinned.
"I suppose so." (Y/N) smiled back at him.
If we were to be together, I wonder how things would be. Of course, I would wait for him. He seems to have a lot on his plate. What am I thinking? He has a girlfriend. I don't know much of her, but from the sound of it... she seems like someone important. Someone important. Someone that I wish I could be to him. I am just a friend of his.
"Earth to (Y/N)?" He waved his hand in front of her. Before he leaned over, she grew quite startled. She took a step back before a soft chuckle escaped her lips. She brushed her own anxiety aside, and she chose more toppings.
Yeong-gi was the one she desperately wanted to be with. It was him. Someone who has shown her such kindness. She had only known him for a short time, but already he pulled the strings of her heart. He seemed to know the right things to say. She had forgotten what it felt like to believe in love. But now, she is desperately looking for her own love. Now he was here, but again he already had someone.
Her voice cannot reach him. If she were to tell him her feelings, no one would approve of her and nothing would come out of it. She was on her own. It would have been nice to meet him another time, sometime in the future.
Both Yeong-gi and (Y/N) continued to stand around in the kitchen. She observed Yeong-gi as he attempted to make a perfect crepe. However, it turned out burnt once again, so they would continue. After a plethora of attempts, he was able to make one layer. (Y/N) clapped her hands and smiled upon seeing this. She then took over and would make the rest of the crepe layers. Afterward, she allowed Yeong-gi to apply the buttercream on each crepe. In the end, she topped it off with some powdered sugar, and Yeong-gi watched her with a childish smile.
"When did you start baking?" Yeong-gi asked.
"My first memories are a bit foggy. It has always been like this, I helped my mother with baking."
"What sort of stuff do you really enjoy making?"
"I am unsure," (Y/N) sighed. "I mainly bake whatever comes to mind."
"Do you find baking fun?"
"Do I find baking fun...?" (Y/N) repeated.
She turned her head to him. Her eyes looked into those emerald eyes of his, and she opened her mouth. When she tried to speak, the words seemed to be unable to form. "I seek comfort in baking, and it comes to me suddenly. Yet baking is only a hobby of mine."
"You always seem to be baking. I thought you would be a pastry chef."
"Ahaha, no. It's simply a hobby of mine."
Yeong-gi grabbed a fork and cut a small piece of the crepe cake. He brought the forkful of crepe to his mouth before eating it. He hummed out and looked back at (Y/N) with such a happy expression. She couldn't help but imagine him as a happy dog. Having little ears and being so happy that his tail was wagging. How cute he was. He was always so cute when he smiled.
"I'm assuming that you enjoy it?"
"It's great. Really it is. I usually am not really into sweets like this too." Yeong-gi continued to savor the taste of the crepe, and (Y/N) got herself a slice of the crepe cake as well. A short smile went across her face, and she enjoyed her cake with him too. It generally was a nice atmosphere, and she knew that it would come to an end soon.
She knew that he would leave her place. That he would go back to his own life. Indeed she was his friend, but she knew that their friendship didn't mean much in his own life. Even with her or not, she has no real place in his life. Everything that Kousuke asked of her to do came back to her. To leave him alone. Could she really do that?
Author's note: I enjoyed writing this chapter. I listened to Only while writing this chapter. It made me feel so in love and pushed me to write! I created a solid outline of the story. In reading the ongoing chapters of I Love Yoo, there will be changes made in this story too.
