Chapter 29

Luke’s P.O.V

“Lad, I’m telling you, she’s great” I gushed to my best friend Calum.

“She’s got you tied up, she must be” He chuckled and rolled his eyes, bringing them back down to his twitter feed on his phone, laying in his hands. Sighing, I texted Michael again.

“Where are you? Band practice started half an hour ago.” I typed, annoyed Michael had been late, once again. I watched as the small text below my words showed up. “Read, 6:03” Sighing again, I threw my phone beside me and walked towards my guitar, nearly furious with Michael’s constant tardiness. We had hated each other only months before, but even when we finally became friends, he never showed up on time, anywhere. Calum noticed my action and threw his phone to the side as well, walking over to his bass, and strapping it around his shoulders. “Let’s roll over Heartbreak Girl again” He nodded to me, and began playing his riff. I joined in on my count, and we playing perfectly through the song, executing it just as planned. We were approaching the end of the song, until we were cut off by a voice in the hallway. We both stopped playing. “Luke! Calum! We’re here!” Michael shrieked, his red hair appearing in the doorway.

“We?” Calum and I looked at each other, and back at Michael with curiosity.

“If this is going to be a band, we’re going to need a drummer lads. So, I got one” He smirked, and our apparent new band member entered the room, as if on cue. As if his bright purple shirt wasn’t weird enough, his mess of hair nearly covering his eyes made him look unnaturally out of place too. He waved without a word, followed by an outrageous giggle that rang through the room. I took note of his laugh, it was the one thing appealing about him to me at this point. Michael raised his eyebrows at Calum and I, examining our reactions, then he finally spoke up. “Lads” He paused. “This is Ashton.”
