Chapter 36

Luke's P.O.V

I ran my fingers through my hair, anxiously pacing the room as the boys watched me, confused.

"What's so bad about him?" Michael snarled, grabbing the phone from my hands and looking at the picture, a crease in his forehead. I ripped my hands from my hair, throwing them in the air.

"Do you not understand?!" I raised my voice, doing my best to keep it low as my worry bubbled inside of me. "He's the other one! He's the other guy that she likes! And..and now I'm gonna be stuck with him..breathing down my neck, for..for months?!" I took a breath, my face hot as I felt it change to a shade of red. "I can't..I won't do it!" I let out a huff as I fell back onto the couch, my heart still pounding. Ashton sat down next to me and looked at me, a concerned expression across his face.

"I know I just joined the band and all" He looked up at the boys, as if to ask for reassurance in his words that followed. "But this is the big break for us, this is our dream come true Luke!" He nudged me playfully, taking a small piece of the weight off of my chest. "We'll be plenty busy to keep away from him, I mean, we already are, with this upcoming gig so close!" He mentioned the show we had scheduled later tonight in Bowery. Calum chimed in, sitting on my opposite side.

"Yeah mate, this might be our last hometown show for awhile, so let's go balls to the walls, yeh?" He held out his hand for a fist bump, and I hesitantly obliged. Michael then took a standing, hardly intimidating stance in front of me, and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Don't be such a bitch about it" He remarked, a cocky smile on his lips as he continued. "I mean, she's probably going, so lets make sure she knows how good you really are" He paused, before turning to his shoulder and coughing a short " or aren't" as loudly as he could. I smiled, feeling all together better about it as I sat surrounded by the boys, almost inspired by the pitiful bonding moment we had all just had. As much as I wanted to deny it, they gave me hope, and I let out a loud sigh, before standing to my feet and throwing myself face first into what would be the beginning of the greatest, and most terrifying days of my life.
