I was doing my homework on my bed until I hear my moms phone ring. I pause writing and wait to listen on who she's on the phone to.
"Hello?" There was a long silence.
"M-my Rachel?" I perk my head up so confused. Maybe something happened to Rachel. Another long silence.
"Oh no" she said. I could hear her voice shake and break down. I could hear her start to cry so I jump off my bed and run towards her. She was leaning on the kitchen island with her hand covering her mouth. I stand beside looking at her. I don't know what's going on. What's happening.
"Okay I'll be there in two minutes" she hung up the phone and went to put shoes on. I follow her still having no clue what's going on.
"Mom. What happened"
She stops and turns around to me.
"Rachel." She slips one of her feet into her shoes and says
"She didn't go to get friends house."  I tilt my head.

"She went off with some boy on his motorcycle and got into an accident "

She says grabbing her keys and tears rolling down her face. My jaw hangs open. I suddenly struggle to breathe and i felt numb for a few seconds. I run to get shoes on and we run to the car and start driving to the hospital.

We make it to the hospital. I hate the hospital.
It's so depressing and sad,
so dead and quiet. I remember I had to spend a few days here to for my appendix when I was 6. I hated it so much I was so happy to go home. I can't imagine what it's like for people that have to make it like their second home.

Mom and I run in to the front desk. "Where's my daughter, my daughter Rachel l/n"

"I'm sorry miss you're going to have to wait in the waiting room. They're bringing her into surgery"

Mom takes a step back and I could hear her shaky breathe. I hold her warm hand and bring her into the waiting room. She flops down into a chair and I take a seat next to it. I give her a hug and I stay right next to her. Holding her tightly. Not saying anything. I didn't know what to say, so I just kept hugging her tightly.  We've been in the waiting room for hours until a doctor comes around the corner coming into the waiting room. My mom quickly stands up rubbing the side of her thighs up and down because of how anxious she is.

"How is she?" She asks.
"The motorbike collided into a car and flipped into a hedge" The doctor says looking down at his clip board. My mom begins to cry again. I turn to her and give her a hug.
Mom perks her head up again. "When can we see her"
"You can see her now if you like but she is still asleep from surgery" he says turning half way and putting his arm out directing us. We follow him down the hallway and I look into each room. People in beds linked to machines, old people watching tv or talking to their family. This place makes me want to cry and give a hug to every single person in here.
We walk into my sisters room. I could feel my eyes water as I walk closer to her. Shes linked up to so many machines. She's in a neck brace and a cast on her arm and one on her leg.

"Broken arm and leg, cracked spine and rib and split her chin open." My mom covers her mouth and grabs Rachel's other hand that's not broken. She immediately breaks down. "My poor Rachel."

It's 4am now and we're still in the hospital. My mom was still holding into Rachel's hand with tears rolling down her face. I'm at the window sitting on the couch staring Rachel.

I needed to stretch my legs. I stand up and yawn, walking over to my mom.
"Do you want anything from the store?" I ask her. On the ground floor there a little shop that's open 24/7 inside of the hospital.
"Just a bottle of water thanks honey" I nod and walk out of the room. I walk through each hallway to get a good walk out to stretch my legs.  I was at the top of the hallway when I could see someone sitting on the floor outside of a room with their hand in their head crying. I contemplate whether I should go down the hallway or just go a different route. I take a few steps closer and I realised who it was.
