The Dare

Chapter 20

I woke up to my alarm ringing, I got three hours of sleep at least and my body feels so weak. I had just about forgotten what happened last night for about five seconds but then it all came crashing down, making my eyes fill up with tears again. My head is pounding from dehydration and my body aches.
I hear knock on my door
"Y/n come on you gotta get-
My mom stops in the middle of my bedroom staring at me.
"Y/n? Is everything ok"
I tried my best holding it in but I let out a loud sob. I felt so sick like I was going to throw up, I can't face him today.
"No no no what's wrong y/n" she says kneeling down beside my bed looking at me.
I tell her. I tell her from start to finish what happened last night. I could tell my mom was holding back a tear listening to me. She pulls me into a hug.
"Shhh" she says while my head is in the crook of her neck sobbing.
"You can stay home okay? You look exhausted" she says before standing back up onto her two feet.
I look at her again before nodding, she sees the bags under my red eyes. "Y/n.. try get some sleep okay?"
I nod before curling into a ball in my bed watching my mom leave my bedroom, blowing me a kiss before closing the door. Now it's just me in my dark bedroom.
Alone.
Heartbroken.

Noah

I walked into school looking everywhere for her, I checked her locker, Ellie's locker, even her tree.
I want to explain everything, I want to tell her I love her, I want to tell her she's the most beautiful girl in the world, I want to tell her every time she smiles i feel like taking a picture and keeping it forever, I want to tell her she send shivers down my spine every time she looks at me, I want to tell her I could stare at her forever.
But I can't, I know she won't want to talk to me, she wouldn't even want to see me. I'll keep my distance, even if I can't resist. I need her in my life.
I walk over to Bryce, with Brittany beside him, she follows his gaze and spots me walking towards them.
"Hey man" Bryce says.

"Hey Bryce" I say making eye contact with Brittany, she's smirking. "Where'd you run off to last night? To y/n's?"
Bryce notices the tension between us and says "You study for the math test?"
I clench my jaw wanting to fight back but I know that won't do anything. I ignore her giving my attention to Bryce. At the corner of my eye I could see Brittany staring right at me, hard. She backs off the locker behind her and walks away.
"Uhm n-no why did you"
His voice slowly fades in my ears as I look over his shoulder searching through the corridor looking for her. No where.
She would normally be the one that stands out, the one your eyes fall with a room full of people. She wasn't there, but I saw Ellie at her locker.

His voice slowly fades back in again
"So I doubt it" he finishes, having no clue what he was talking about
"Yeah yeah hold on" I walk past him going over to Ellie at her locker. She notices I'm walking over to her, but
before I could say anything she said
"Do you know if y/n is coming in? Is she sick?"

She didn't tell her? Why wouldn't she tell her best friend?

"I was just about to ask you that" I laugh nervously scratching the back of my neck.
"Oh okay" she says turning back to her locker.
God y/n why didn't you tell her.
"Maybe call her" I say hinting.
Confusion spread on her face "Can't you just call her?"
Shit.
"My phone died" I say shrugging my shoulders. She looks at me suspiciously but nods and says
"Il call  her now"
I nod and force and smile, before turning back and walking back to Bryce.

I lie in my bed numb, thinking of him making my eyes fill up once again. It's hurts like hell when you know that you need to let go of someone but you can't.
I heard my phone vibrate on my bedside table. I turn it over and it's Ellie.
I forgot to tell her, I need to tell her everything.

"Hi"
"Hey y/n! Where you at? You not coming in"
"No not today" I said sniffling
"Is everything ok?"
Silence
Silence again.
"Y/n"

"No.. I-I" I take a breath.
"I-it's Noah"
Silence
"Y/n what happened"

I took another deep breathe keeping myself together. But my eyes instantly fill up again.
"He was using me Ellie and I'm sorry i should have listened to you I'm really really so-
"Y/n"
There was a silence. I could hear her locker door close
"Noah was talking to me a few minutes ago"
I paused staring at the wall in front of me.
"He did?"
"Yes he was wondering why you weren't in"
I closed my eyes. I used all the energy I had and pulled myself out of bed to go to the kitchen.
"Did he say anything else?"

"He told me to call you to see if everything is okay *pause* so that's why he didn't use his phone" she says to herself.
I bit my lip leaning against the counter wondering what to say.

"Y/n I'll come over later, class is starting, we'll sort this out okay?"
"Okay thank you Ellie"
"I love you y/n get some rest"
"I love you too"
I fill up a glass with water and drank it instantly, feeling my dry throat soak up all the moisture again.

I watched Ellie as she dialled y/n's phone number and brings it to her ear. A few seconds go by and y/n picked up. As Ellies taking her books out of her locker, she pauses and slowly turns her head to me. She told her. She closed her locker and started walking the opposite direction, looking over her shoulder at me giving the "are you serious face"

I sighed against the locker.
