Chameleon and the five dragonets were flying toward the Mud Kingdom, fast and ready for every situation.
The animus had changed into a big and dark MudWing, telling them to call him Bog as long as he wore that mask and that he had sent an enchanted scroll to warn Queen Moorhen of their arrival.<< So, what can you tell us about my tribe? >>
Asked Clay flying closer.
Chameleon pondered his words for a moment, trying his best to find the right words he sighed and opted for the most direct approach, like he did with Glory.<< I'm sorry to disappoint you, but your parents won't be pleasant. >>
<< What do you mean? >>Asked the young MudWing with a worried expression.
<< MudWings have a breeding night once a month, then the females lay their eggs in a safe place and simply leave them there, checking on them a few times. We already told you that once the BigWings hatch, they will take care of their siblings and that they'll have the strongest bond, but that's it, there is no close relationship between the siblings troop and their parents. >>
Clay stared at him in silence, disappointment was visible in his expression at the thought of his own parents not being like he had always imagined and the chance that they might refuse to meet him.
Yet he wanted to be optimistic.<< I'll still try to meet my parents. At least, to know who they are. >>
<< Alright... >>The first answer that came to Chameleon's mind was actually: "Don't tell me I didn't warn you", but he couldn't ruin his relationship with the dragonets.
<< So... I've been thinking of a way to help all the tribes believe in us. >>
Said Starflight trying to ease the mood.
<< What are you planning? >>
Asked Glory.
<< Well, the prophecy talked about five dragonets only, right? >>
The others nodded to his words.
<< But that's just absurd, the war is wrecking all of Pyrrhia, it's affecting all the tribes, all seven of them. Of course many doubt of the prophecy, why would it talk about five dragonets only? >>
<< You mean... >>Said Glory, quickly understanding what Starflight wanted to say.
<< Yes. We're the Dragonet of Destiny, we can change the rules to do our job better and we can say that the Talons of Peace got the wrong prophecy, that the real one talks about seven dragonets, for every tribe in Pyrrhia deserves to live in peace and every tribe will be more interested in us if we have a "piece" of them with us. >>
<< Starflight... you're a genius! >>Said "Bog" with a smile.
"Why didn't we think about it before? It's so simple! I need to tell Scarlet!"<< Well, getting a SkyWing won't be a problem. But what about an IceWing? >>
<< We'll... think about it. >>"Yeah, Hailstorm is out of question."
Thought "Bog".
The young prince was of the right age, but if he took away the amulet of Pyrite, Hailstorm could tell the dragonets that he and Scarlet weren't as good as they told and the mask of the SkyWing dragoness would clearly leave a mark, the dragonet would be too traumatized and confused and too occupied with the conflict of the two identities in his mind to be of any help.
"Where do we get an IceWing?"<< Hey! It's Queen Moorhen! >>
Said Sunny as the MudWing queen sat with a few other dragons who they assumed were her guards and gestured for them to land closer.
