The morning was passing in perfect normality, or what he could call normality in his work. He was always glad that years ago he had solved the problem of not having work peaks and thus being able to allow himself more free time, either to devote to his own business or to his family. That late January morning he was in the first place. Earlier in the month he had taken a short trip, unfortunately on his own because of his wife's work, but the point was that the trip had been for a deal he was seeking and that if he got it he would probably also be traveling from time to time.

That part felt a little bad for him, but he was confident that it would be short and not so frequent trips so his wife and son wouldn't take it too badly. But before thinking about what Tenten would possibly think about it, he should finish what he was doing, at least he wasn't in too much of a hurry to answer yet. And somehow as if he had summoned her at the thought of her, his phone started ringing from a call from the brunette.

"Hi, sweetie," he greeted as he answered, getting no response from the other end, "sweetie?" he asked, beginning to notice that in the distance she seemed to hear strange noises, "Tenten, are you there?" new noises were heard and he hesitated whether to hang up or not, the brunette had never had her cell phone dialed by accident.

"Give it to me," he frowned, also listening now to what was clearly a hiccuping sound from his wife, "Kiba."

"Neji," he answered, "what happened to my wife?" he could swear he could hear her crying in the background.

"Just a moment," a couple of seconds passed, Tenten was no longer heard, "now yes, I'm afraid of disturbing her any more."

"What happened?"

"You must come right away for her, somebody called her a few minutes ago," his senses were on alert, Tenten disturbed by a call could only mean that something had happened to his little dragon, "her father passed away."

"What? How?" he shouldn't be happy because of the relief that ran through him when he knew it wasn't Ryuu.

"I don't know anything else, it was the only thing she said and she hasn't stopped crying," he could imagine it, "I think somebody is waiting for her somewhere, but she is in no condition to go anywhere alone."

"I'll be right there," there was something like a nodding sound, "Neji, thank you."

There was no answer, just the call was hung up and he grabbed his coat to leave, warning his secretary that he wouldn't be back for the rest of the day and would possibly miss the next day. The Hyūga building was nearby, just under a 10 minute drive so he wasted no time. He had never been to Neji's office before, but the front desk let him straight through indicating it was the second to last floor. He saw everywhere as he exited the elevator and advanced down a hallway that ended with a wider space where as he approached he could hear whispers.

"Sweetie," Tenten was sitting on the floor, in front of her was a cardboard cup and the Hyūga was a couple of feet away asking her to drink the tea.

"Kiba!" he approached her with quick steps and bent down so he could hug her, hearing her break into tears again

"There, there, sweetie," he squeezed her tighter and looked with his eyes for Neji, who had stood up and only watched them without saying anything.

"Kiba, my dad..." she was interrupted by a hiccup.

"I know, Tenten, and I'm really sorry."

"My mom, she..."

"Let's go get her, is she at work?" Tenten nodded, "come on, sweetie, take a deep breath," he took the glass of tea, "drink some, it will help you calm down," with slow movements she listened to him, "good, now let's go to the car," he stood up and carefully helped her up, her skirt had completely wrinkled which indicated that she had been sitting there for a while, "Thanks again, Neji."
